We actively strive to channel our highly engaged employee’s knowledge, critical thinking, innovative solutions for our clients.\nResponsibilities\nServe as a credentialed Associate Investigator or Principal Investigator (PI) to provide research engineering support for research, analysis, and investigations.\nSupport the design, preparation, execution, and analysis of studies and experimentation.\nSelect, install, and maintain instrumentation.\nPerform laboratory procedures, field studies, testing, and research activities.\nPerform scientific and administrative tasks in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, injury biomechanics, biomechanics, or related fields with minimal supervision.\nUse principles of scientific, engineering, and medical disciplines to design, develop, and accomplish project goals.\nAssist with all levels of documentation, development of testing procedures and equipment, data collection, risk assessment and mitigation, and evaluation and maintenance of research assets and facilities.\nAdvise Principal Investigators, Group Leadership, and study teams in administration and execution of RDT&E, analysis, and investigations.\nWork independently with minimal strategic and application guidance and no technical direction to address analytical, theoretical, scientific, and operational questions.\nSolve analytical and technical problems and execute scientific and administrative solutions.\nProvide advanced services related to the Injury Biomechanics RDT&E program.\nPrepare reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other documentation on research progress and findings.\nProvide scientific analytical, engineering problem-solving, design efforts, and experience-based solutions related to biomechanical responses and Soldier injury prevention.\nDevelop and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).\nProvide biomedical engineering expertise in analyzing and evaluating ongoing research through data and documentation.\nPrepare for injury biomechanics research studies, including collaboration with industry and academic partners.\nSupport design and fabrication of biomechanical test equipment and devices.\nTroubleshoot instrumentation and research equipment.\nSelect and justify materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for research efforts.\nProvide reliable, timely, and quality biomechanical engineering services in a team environment.\nManage and develop methodology, projects, personnel, and resources.\nDevelop recommendations on PMHS research, volunteer research, quality assurance, data analysis, BSL-2 good laboratory practice, and publication of findings.\nProvide guidance to and participate within study teams during development of research work plans, proposals, data collection and analyses, and agreements.\nPrepare protocol interim and final reports, presentations, papers, and other documentation.\nAssist with writing research work plans, proposals, data collection procedures, and agreements.\nCollaborate closely with stakeholders, academia, industry, and customers on biomechanical and biomedical projects.\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nKnowledge of commonly used and advanced concepts, practices, standards, and procedures within injury biomechanics, mechanics, dynamics, strengths of materials, and mathematics demonstrated through a relevant engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.\nDemonstrated experience and skill with a broad range of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures through publications, particularly related to human head and spine injury biomechanics research and PMHS research.\nExperience in programming, data acquisition, instrumentation, kinematic and video motion capture, and MATLAB.\nSpecialized skills include exposure to Post Mortem Human Subjects (PMHS) research and Biosafety Level 2 policies and procedures.\nDemonstrated experience with FDA and/or IRB approval processes.\nDemonstrated experience with mechanical material testing devices and impact devices.\nDemonstrated experience with biomedical imaging and imaging analysis tools, including CT, MRI, and X-ray technologies.\nDemonstrated experience with mathematical analysis software such as MATLAB.\nDemonstrated experience with high-speed imaging and analysis tools.\nDemonstrated experience with biomedical instrumentation, including load cells and accelerometers.\nDemonstrated experience with high-rate, high-quality data acquisition systems.\nDemonstrated experience with injury biomechanics research involving PMHS research and data, human volunteer physiological, kinematic, and biomechanical data, and/or Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs).\nSuccessfully pass background and drug screening\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s degree in a relevant engineering or STEM field preferred;
