Our culture is performance-driven, team-oriented, and focused on doing the job right while providing long-term career opportunities.\nSummary: \nThe Senior Accountant performs advanced general ledger accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting in support of accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. The position prepares and reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, fixed-asset, lease, investment, and revenue-recognition activity; investigates variances and complex accounting issues; and prepares financial statements and management reports in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policy. The role also partners with project and operational teams to improve project setup, cash flow, contract closeout, internal controls, audit readiness, and accounting-process efficiency.\n\nWork Location: \nIn office - 3000 C St, Suite 301, Anchorage, AK 99503.\nResponsibilities\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nPerform advanced general ledger accounting, including journal entries, subsidiary-ledger and bank reconciliations, accruals and reversals, and accounting for fixed assets, leases, investments, and revenue recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP.\nAnalyze project-level and financial-statement results and communicate significant trends, variances, risks, and recommended follow-up to management.\nParticipate in project setup to support appropriate accounting treatment, revenue recognition, billing, and reporting.\nInvestigate and resolve unreconciled items, unusual balances, and inconsistencies in general ledger and subsidiary records.\nReconcile general ledger and project-ledger activity and coordinate corrections with responsible stakeholders.\nPerform unbilled-receivable analysis and recommend actions that support cash flow and contract closeout.\nPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, schedules, and management reports.\nResearch complex accounting matters and document conclusions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.\nMaintain and improve accounting procedures and internal controls that support the integrity, completeness, and reliability of financial data and processes.\nPrepare audit schedules and supporting documentation and respond to authorized audit requests.\nEvaluate and support implementation of applicable accounting pronouncements.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting efficiency, data quality, and process effectiveness.\nPerform other duties consistent with the position’s accounting purpose and level.\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nMinimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.\nMinimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience involving general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and financial analysis.\nDemonstrated experience applying U.S. GAAP to accounting transactions and issue resolution.\nExperience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and audit-support schedules.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using an enterprise accounting or ERP system.\nSuccessfully pass background and drug-screening requirements.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in government contracting or project-based accounting.\nPublic accounting experience.\nExperience applying ASC 606 and ASC 842.\nActive CPA license, CPA candidate status, or progress toward CPA eligibility.\nExperience with Deltek Costpoint, BNA, LeaseAccelerator, or comparable systems.\nExperience with unbilled analysis, project setup, contract closeout, or revenue recognition in a federal contractor environment.\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial statements, account reconciliation, accrual accounting, internal controls, revenue recognition, fixed assets, leases, investments, and audit support.\nAdvanced Excel, financial analysis, journal-entry preparation, account reconciliation, technical accounting research, financial-statement preparation, management reporting, variance analysis, and documentation skills.\nAbility to synthesize complex financial information, identify root causes, develop supported accounting conclusions, manage multiple deadlines, recognize control concerns, explain accounting matters clearly, and escalate material issues
