The VLS Maintenance Technician I plays a key role on the team of professional and safety-conscious Technicians who refurbish canisters for the US Navy fleet.\nResponsibilities\nSupport quality, productivity, and process improvement initiatives always\nAdhere to a very high standard of housekeeping\nComplete painting tasks with conventional (either gravity or siphon) fed spray guns \nRead and apply appropriate paint formulas\nPrepping, priming, and masking for refinishing \nOperate forklift to move equipment \nProper handling of company tools\nApply imaging decals (stencils)\nProperly complete all work order documentation\nExecute the needed repairs without direct supervision and guidance while following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) \nPerform other duties as assigned\nQualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent\n0 to 1 year of experience sanding, priming, painting, and stenciling damaged automotive body parts or other steel body parts. \nValid driver's license\nInterim Secret clearance\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nMust be able to provide and share knowledge and skills with other employees at any given time.\nMust be cost-effective and show great concern for the cost of materials and parts.\nMust show the highest level of dependability, punctuality, and dedication as an employee.\nMust have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.\nMust have basic knowledge of how a HAZMAT program operates. \nCommunication is necessary with the team and supervision.\nMust be efficient with using orbital sanders (DA).\nOverhead crane experience is a plus.\nStrong background in the following areas is preferred:Welding: MIG, TIG, and ARC (certifications are beneficial)\nFabrication\nPainting/respirator (qualification is beneficial)\nGeneral mechanical repairs\n\nExperience in commercial and military type Material Handling Equipment is desired.\nMechanical aptitude and the ability to conscientiously follow written and verbal instructions.\nProper use of standard hand tools and material-handling equipment.\nAbility to maintain a driver’s license.\nAbility to lift boxes, packages, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds using proper equipment and lifting techniques.\nPhysically fit with full use of arms, legs, and back. \nAbility to maintain required training and certifications.\nAbility to travel 20-30% to CONUS and OCONUS locations.\nAbility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.\nHow you’ll grow\nAt Chenega MIOS, our professional development plan focuses on helping our team members at every level of their careers to identify and use their strengths to do their best work every day.
