The Senior/Staff Engineer, Mechanical will participate and provide discipline expertise to less experienced support staff in engineering design, maintenance, and production activities.\nThis is a Non-DOT position.\nRESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES\nServes as the Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems technical specialist and provides Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems support to the plant to keep the plant systems safe and operational.\n\nUtilizes sound engineering practices to provide guidance and application to plant standards and specifications to develop cost effective solutions for Static Equipment and Mechanical engineering issues.\n\nEnsures that documentation for the Static Equipment and Mechanical systems are maintained properly. Provides guidance and development of documentation standards.\n\nParticipates in the Management of Change process.\n\nDevelops and utilizes computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develop documentation.\n\nProvides technical support for maintenance planning and maintenance teams.\n\nAssists maintenance and operations groups on reliability issues when they occur; must be able to have vision and ability to create quality solutions for any problems.\n\nServes as a plant liaison on Static Equipment and Mechanical System engineering issues (not limited to risk engineering, system integrity and applicability to specifications, philosophies and standards).\n\nProvides technical support to other groups, by understanding and interpreting codes, standards and regulations that are equipment related.\n\nCoordinates and develops proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates and budgets for capital projects. Provide technical guidance during development and construction, support the Project Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending.\n\nDevelops working relationships with other department personnel within the plant to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed.\n\nReinforces awareness of safety and environmental incidents through job observations. Ensure the development or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.\n\nThe duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.\n\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:\nKnowledge:\nApplies general knowledge of LNG production, transportation, storage and loading, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. Practices and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Static Equipment and Mechanical Systems, national codes, standards and regulations, and their implementation in operating facilities.\nSkills:\nStrong leadership and technical abilities are required.\n\nAn acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.\n\nExceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.\n\nAbility to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies.\n\nAble to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities.\n\nPossess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Management, plant supervision and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.\n\nOrganized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.\n\nExceptional problem solving and analytical skills.\n\nAccomplished public speaker, able to create and deliver industry-specific presentations.\n\nComputer savvy including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\nEducation, Training and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.\nExperience:\nSenior Engineer, Mechanical: Minimum of five (5)+ years of relevant experience in an industrial setting in engineering, operations, maintenance or other related technical function. LNG facility experience is preferred; however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing or other hydrocarbon processing experience is acceptable.\nStaff Engineer, Mechanical: Minimum of ten (10) + years of relevant experience in an industrial setting in engineering, operations, maintenance or other related technical function. LNG facility experience is strongly preferred; however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.\nDIRECT REPORTS\nNo direct reports\nFREEDOM TO ACT\nThe Senior/ Staff Engineer, Mechanical is an expert in their field and requires minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task and function in a highly dynamic atmosphere; must exercise discretion independently.\nWORK CONDITIONS\nJob is performed in an industrial plant environment.\n\nOccasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.\n\nLimited travel required, as business conditions dictate.\n\nSubject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, smell, type and write.\n\nMust be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 50 pounds.\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise.
