This position is responsible for surface preparation, abrasive blasting, and the application of protective marine coatings on new construction vessels. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and production goals while working in a fast-paced industrial marine environment.\nWhy Should You Apply?\nCompetitive Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour, based on experience.\n$1,000 Sign-On Bonus: Paid in two installments after 60 and 180 days of continuous employment for eligible full-time positions.\nEmployee Referral Bonus: Earn $500 for each referred candidate who is hired.\nComprehensive Health Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and supplemental life coverage available for employees and their families. Aggressive work ethic with a focus on production.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & TASKS:\nListen, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.\nPerform surface preparation activities including, but not limited to:\nPerform surface preparation activities including, but not limited to: Primers (zinc and epoxy coatings).\n Intermediate coats (epoxy and urethane coatings).\n Finish coats (urethanes and antifouling coatings).\n\nOperate, inspect, clean. and maintain painting and blasting equipment, including: Blast pots.\n Blast hoses and nozzles.\n Air compressors.\n Airless and conventional spray pumps.\n Spray hoses, guns, and tips.\n\nVerify proper coating thickness and coverage in accordance with specifications.\nPerform touch-up and repair painting as required.\nMaintain a clean and organized work area.\nFollow directions from supervisors and foremen.\nPractice proper safety procedures at all times.\nPerform all other duties as assigned to support operational requirements.\nKNOWLEDGE:\nOne to two years of industrial, marine, construction, or related painting experience.\nFamiliarity with abrasive blasting and protective coating systems.\nKnowledge of surface preparation standards and coating application techniques.\nAbility to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and coating equipment.\nStrong verbal communication skills.\nExcellent judgment and attention to detail.\nGood hand-eye coordination.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nRequirements\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nAll types of physical movement required for this position to successfully perform the essential functions.\nAbility to use upper and lower extremities\nAbility to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold\nAbility to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment, on ladders, stairs, scaffolds, through small accesses, enter tanks, and confined spaces through hatches and manholes throughout much of the work shift\nOccasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds\nAbility to traverse uneven terrain, including loose pack gravel\nAbility to safely wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection, safety glasses, welding shields, grinding shields, gloves, life jackets, harnesses, hard hats, and other task- or area-specific PPE, as applicable. Employees required to wear tight-fitting respiratory protection must maintain facial hair in a manner that does not interfere with the respirator’s sealing surface or proper fit, in accordance with applicable respiratory protection requirements.\nMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal level of visual acuity needed. Must be able to understand and follow directions. Normal hearing level needed.
