The Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services (injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, along with sideline injury care, game day coverage). Generally, the schedule will be Mon-Sat, depending on the needs of the athletic department and schedule.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nProvide athletic training services to Cheshire Academy Students as directed by the Director of the Health Center and Head Athletic Trainer. \nProvide athletic training services to Cheshire Academy student-athletes under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and according to the Policies and Procedures of Cheshire Academy Athletic Training.\nIf the Head Athletic Trainer is not on site, then the Athletic Trainer will take on a leadership role regarding decision-making and implementation of the policies and procedures for the athletic training staff.\nAthletic Training Services as defined by the National Athletic Trainers Association - The management and provision of care of injuries to a physically active person as defined in the state practice act with the direction of a licensed physician. The term includes the rendering of emergency care, development of injury prevention programs and providing appropriate preventative and devices of the physically active person. The term also includes the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation, and recondition of the physically active person whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a certified athletic trainer. The term also includes the use of modalities such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electric sound, massage, and the use of therapeutic exercises, reconditioning exercise, and fitness programs. \nAct as liaison between physicians, healthcare specialists, health center staff, coaches, students, and their parents \nMaintain accurate medical records of all students’ injuries, treatment, and rehabilitation on Cheshire Academy’s electronic medical record system. \nCommunicate with academic assistance, Roxbury instructors, and teachers regarding students’ return-to-learn protocol following a concussion. \nProvide coaches with timely information on student-athletes’ medical eligibility for team participation under the Cheshire Academy policies and state of Connecticut regulations. \nPlan and coordinate evidence-based educational programs to students, coaches, and faculty.
