Chestnut also conducts research and training throughout the U.S.A.\nInternship Overview\nChestnut Health Systems is seeking compassionate and motivated students for a Human Services Internship. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to behavioral health and integrated care services, allowing interns to learn directly from experienced professionals while supporting individuals and families in need.\nInternship Capacity: 3-4 students per semester\nMinimum Age Requirement: 21 years\nSchedule Availability: Monday-Friday\nTimeframes Available: Morning, Afternoon, and Evening hours\nResponsibilities\nClient Populations Served\nInterns will gain experience working with diverse populations, including:\nYoung Adults (18-30)\nAdults\nOlder Adults (65+)\nIndividuals with Mental Health Needs\nIndividuals with Substance Use Disorders\nIndividuals Coping with Domestic Violence\nIndividuals Experiencing Homelessness\nLGBTQIA+ Individuals\nVeterans and Military Families\nLow-Income Individuals and Families\nFamilies, Parents, and Caregivers\nVictims of Crime or Trauma\nPrograms & Services\nInterns will primarily engage in:\nInpatient Services: Crisis unit, substance use residential treatment, and supportive housing\nOutpatient Services: Employment support, helping clients obtain and maintain employment\nCommon Client Needs & Challenges\nClients often experience:\nMental health symptoms\nSubstance use disorders\nHousing instability and financial hardship\nFieldwork Role & Responsibilities\nInterns will participate in structured, supervised activities such as:\nObserving group and individual sessions\nMonitoring clients with staff present on units\nShadowing employment specialists\nParticipating in groups and outreach activities\nObserving direct care services\nQualifications\nPreferred Skills & Qualifications\nAbility to take direction and apply feedback\nUnderstanding of professional boundaries\nStrong professionalism and reliability\nInterest in recovery-oriented care\nMust be enrolled in the Human Services Program\nKeys to Success\nSuccessful interns will:\nDemonstrate compassion and empathy\nUnderstand the complex challenges of the populations served\nMaintain professionalism and boundaries\nPractice consistent self-care\nAre you intrigued by this opportunity but unsure if it’s the right fit?
