The role leads strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, contract management, supplier performance governance, and stakeholder engagement to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective logistics solutions while driving value creation, supply continuity, and operational excellence.Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Category Specialist, Logistics through October 29th until 11.59pm Central time.\nThe Logistics Category Specialist is responsible for developing and executing category strategies, strategic sourcing initiatives, and supplier performance programs for Shale & Tight transportation and logistics services. This role leads end-to-end commercial activities, including market analysis, sourcing events, negotiations, contracting, and supplier management to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective logistics solutions. The position partners closely with suppliers, Logistics Operations, Base Business, Wells, Facilities & Execution to drive value creation, improve supply assurance, optimize transportation costs, and support operational excellence.\nResponsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:\nLead end-to-end category management and strategic sourcing activities for logistics and transportation services, including market analysis, benchmarking, demand planning, RFx development, supplier evaluation, negotiations, contract award, implementation, and ongoing contract administration.\nDevelop and execute category strategies and category plans aligned with business priorities, operational requirements, long-term supply continuity, and total cost of ownership objectives.\nBuild collaborative relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to translate operational demand into commercial strategies and deliver value creation.\nDevelop commercial models, rate structures, catalogs, and other compensation strategies that improve cost competitiveness and mitigate market volatility.\nEstablish supplier performance governance using KPIs, scorecards, and corrective action plans to improve safety, reliability, cost performance, and operational excellence.\nApply transportation market intelligence and Upstream logistics knowledge to improve capacity planning, network efficiency, and supply continuity.\nNegotiate and administer supplier agreements, ensuring clear scopes, competitive terms, and contract compliance through SMART by GEP or similar procurement platforms.\nUse digital tools to analyze performance, identify trends, communicate insights, and support data-driven decisions.\nSupport operational excellence and safe transportation execution in accordance with applicable DOT and company requirements.\nRelocation Options:\nRelocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.\nInternational Considerations:\nExpatriate assignments will not be considered. Chevron regrets that it is unable to sponsor employment Visas or consider individuals on time-limited Visa status for this position.\nExternal Considerations:\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.\n10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, procurement, category management, or a related discipline.\nExperience leading strategic sourcing processes, including RFI, RFP, and RFQ development, supplier evaluation, negotiations, awards, and implementation.\nExperience developing, negotiating, administering, and managing transportation or logistics contracts and commercial rate structures.\nExperience managing supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, business reviews, and structured improvement plans.\nDemonstrated ability to build effective relationships and communicate with field personnel, suppliers, cross-functional teams, and leadership.\nProven analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.\nPreferred Qualifications:\n15+ years of logistics, transportation, supply chain, or category management experience within the oil and gas industry.\nUpstream operating experience supporting drilling, completions, well lifecycle management, production, facilities, construction, or related field activities.\nExperience managing large transportation portfolios, carrier networks, and logistics execution across the Permian Basin, Texas, and New Mexico.\nDemonstrated delivery of cost savings, network optimization, supplier rationalization, fuel surcharge programs, or other commercial value initiatives.\nWorking knowledge of DOT compliance, transportation safety requirements, carrier management, and operational risk mitigation.\nExperience with SMART by GEP, Power BI, IronSight by Kabal, transportation management systems, and Microsoft 365.\nAbility to remain composed, adaptable, and solutions-focused when managing operational escalations and competing business demands.\nU.S. Regulatory notice:\nChevron is an Equal Opportunity employer.
