The Perishables Food Safety Program Manager will be responsible for partnering with the Perishables Site Operations team, Inventory Control, Learning, Quality, and Facility teams to manage the perishable network food safety programs. They will support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the food safety programs in the perishable space by providing technical leadership for pest control, sanitation, good distribution practices, temperature control, sanitary transportation and other facets of title 21 of the code of federal regulations. If so, we want you to apply today!\nWhat You'll Do:\nLead all aspects of the Temperature Control program across the Perishables Fulfillment Network.\nIdentify, initiate, and propose closure of corrective actions taken. \nProvide input for preventive and corrective actions. \nProvide technical mentorship on sanitation, temperature regulation, hygienic transport, and good distribution practices. \nConduct risk assessments for new and/or proposed activities, equipment, and products in and around the freezer.\nBuild SOPs and educational materials for ongoing food safety awareness and compliance.\nConduct internal audits of freezers to ensure food safety standards are met.\nInvestigate customer complaints and food safety incidents.\nKeep food safety documentation and records accurate and timely as required by company policy and regulatory standards.\nTrack important metrics related to food safety performance and report findings to senior leadership.\nCollaborate with category management, supply chain, quality, and operations teams to uphold cold chain integrity and safe food handling practices.\nDevelop, implement, and maintain food safety systems (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs) for perishable items.\nIdentify, evaluate, and procure appropriate food safety equipment to support network-wide initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards \nConduct proactive and reactive food safety risk assessments across the supply chain, including evaluation of new products, processes, suppliers, and equipment \nStay up to date on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and standard methodologies in food safety and communicate these effectively to teams.\nWhat You'll Need:\nBS or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Biology, Food Safety, Food Science, Environmental Engineering\nAdvanced MS or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Biology, Food Safety, Food Science, Environmental Engineering is preferred \nMinimum of 5+ years in Managing Food Safety Programs in distribution, warehousing, cold storage and/or manufacturing setting. \nMust be PCQI certified.\nExtensive knowledge of FDA regulations and how to apply them, specifically 21 CFR, 502, 117, and 1 specifically subpart O. \nComprehension and practical application of risk assessments. \nProficiency in data collection and management software (Excel, Tableau, SQL etc.).\nStrong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgement, customer focus, and vendor focus skills. \nAbility to analyze and verify record data, implement and monitor corrective measures, and to perform a hazard analysis of both commodity types and processes. \nAbility to work effectively and efficiently under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines. \nExperience leading change in multiple site environments. \nMust be willing to travel up to 50% \nThe hourly range for this role is $46.15 - $73.55.We offer the following benefits for our team members:20% Chewy.com Discount\nMedical, Dental, Vision, FSA and HSA (eligibility on the 1st of the month following date of hire)\nLife and Disability Insurance\n401(k) with company matching\nWellness benefits through Wellbeing @Chewy\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nPaid Time Off: Team members are eligible to accrue up to 80 hours of PTO their first year\nSubsidized child, adult, and pet backup care through Care.com\nDiscounts on many items through the LifeMart Discount platform\nThe option to sign up for Payactiv’s Earned Wage Access program and access a portion of the money you’ve already earned, before your regular payday!\nHigh volume and specialty positions are eligible for wage increases starting after 3-months of service\nReferral Bonuses - $500 per referral\n\nWe offer different types of insurance, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident.
