This role is responsible for overseeing sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP , , and , and maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.\nThe pharmacist will serve as a subject matter expert in sterile compounding, balancing clinical judgment, regulatory compliance, and production workflow oversight in a fast-paced environment. This position works collaboratively with pharmacists, technicians, quality, and leadership to ensure safe and effective compounded sterile preparations (CSPs).\nWhat You’ll Do:\nOversee daily sterile compounding operations within the cleanroom, ensuring compliance with USP , , USP , and all relevant Board of Pharmacy regulations \nApply clinical judgment to evaluate compounded preparations \nPerform and document sterile compounding procedures, including aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, and QA/QC checks \nRelease compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) in accordance with regulatory and internal standards \nSupervise and provide real-time direction to pharmacy technicians and support personnel during compounding operations \nTrain, assess, and maintain competency of compounding personnel (e.g., media fills, gloved fingertip testing, aseptic technique validation) \nMaintain and enforce proper cleanroom behavior, garbing, and aseptic practices \nOversee cleanroom workflow, daily logs, and environmental monitoring programs in collaboration with quality personnel \nReview and approve all ingredients, supplies, and materials prior to use in compounding \nEnsure proper calibration, maintenance, and use of compounding equipment \nCollaborate cross-functionally with quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to support operational efficiency and compliance \nSupport process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow, throughput, and quality in a high-volume environment \nEnsure safe handling of hazardous drugs in accordance with USP and applicable laws \nMaintain complete, accurate, and inspection-ready documentation in electronic and/or manual systems \nAdhere to all internal SOPs, regulatory requirements, and best practices for sterile compounding \nOther duties as assigned \nWhat You’ll Need:\nDoctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required \nActive Pennsylvania Pharmacist license (required) \n2+ years experience in sterile compounding (required) \nExperience in high-volume sterile compounding environments strongly preferred \nExperience with Category 2 and Category 3 sterile compounding (preferred) \nStrong working knowledge of: \nUSP \n\nUSP \n\nUSP \n\nAseptic technique and cleanroom operations \n\nDemonstrated ability to supervise and guide compounding personnel in a fast-paced setting \nStrong understanding of pharmacy laws and regulations (state and federal) \nExperience with electronic documentation systems and compounding workflow software (preferred) \nStrong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills \nExcellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and product quality \nEffective communication and collaboration skills across teams \nWillingness to complete ongoing training and competency assessments \nPhysical & Work Environment Requirements:\nAbility to work in a cleanroom environment requiring full garbing and PPE for extended periods \nMust be able to undergo respirator fit testing (facial hair may interfere with proper seal) \nAbility to stand for prolonged periods and perform repetitive tasks \nMust be able to lift at least 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation \nAbility to perform precise manipulations using small tools and equipment \nFrequent movement including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and kneeling \nRoutine exposure to chemicals and hazardous drugs; strict adherence to safety protocols is required \nMust be able to wear required compounding safety equipment (e.g., gown, gloves, respirator) for extended durations \nAdditional Expectations:\nEnsure a clean, sanitary, and inspection-ready work environment at all times \nSupport audit and inspection readiness (e.g., Boards of Pharmacy, PCAB, NABPVPP)\nPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement \nMaintain personal hygiene and dress appropriate to meet USP standards. \nChewy is an equal opportunity employer.
