Additional benefits for student tutors include a flexible on-campus employment and reinforcing of knowledge or skills.\nNote: There is no guarantee for continued employment from semester to semester due to the unique demands of the student population. Semester work schedules are determined at the beginning of the semester, but may change once student needs are established.\nThere are several tutor positions available:\nOpen Lab Tutor: Provide tutoring services for students on a walk-in basis in an open lab setting. Tutors may provide 1:1 appointments out of open lab times by appointment only.\nProvide 30 or 60 minute 1:1 tutoring appointments.\nAssist students as needed.\nBe knowledgeable of Academic Support processes.\nMaintain and record peer tutor attendance logs.\nTrack tutee attendance.\n1:1 Tutor: Provide 1:1 tutoring by appointment only. These tutoring sessions will only be in a specified content area.\nRespond to all 1:1 appointment requests.\nProvide 30 or 60 minute 1:1 tutoring appointments.\nMaintain and record peer tutor attendance logs.\nDesk Staff Tutor:\nGreet and assist all visitors.\nAnswer incoming calls.\nManaging email communications.\nMaintain and record peer tutor attendance logs.\nRecord student time in lab.\nAssist in student outreach and the promotion of department services.\nParticipate in meetings as required.\nWork alongside Academic Support lab instructor(s).\nUse good judgement when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.\nOperate office equipment as telephone system, printer, scanner, and other equipment as needed.\nAll Tutor Responsibilities:\nAttend mandatory paid training at the beginning of every semester.\nParticipate in ongoing training offered throughout the semester.\nBe dedicated to checking staff email account.\nBe dedicated to participating and utilizing the Tutoring resources.\nBe dependable, flexible, relatable, proactive, patient, friendly, approachable, encouraging, supportive, and have a positive attitude.\nCommunicate regularly with Learning Center Coordinator and Instructor (if applicable).\nDemonstrate commitment to service excellence standards.\nRelate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.\nExcel within the academic area they are tutoring in.\nMust be knowledgeable with Canvas and Microsoft Office.\nAbility to be patient, friendly, and supportive when working with students.\nBe assigned other duties as needed.\nQualifications\nCVTC student or high school diploma or equivalency.\nIn evaluating candidates for this position, the College may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform duties of position.The College is seeking to attract diverse instructors and staff who can inspire our increasingly diverse student population.
