If so, we invite you to apply today for our Software Engineer 2 role today and #MakeItYourChoice.\nYour Responsibilities\nDesign, write, and maintain software to improve the security, availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of choicehotels.com and related services, incorporating cloud and open-source tools when available and writing software of your own when nothing else fits the bill.\nDevelop and deploy automated solutions to secure cloud development processes.\nEngage in service capacity planning and demand forecasting, anticipating performance bottlenecks and provisioning capacity, as necessary.\nParticipate in software performance analysis and system tuning.\nMonitoring and alerting for various components across our infrastructure.\nParticipate in rotating on-call duties, including after-hours/weekends on occasion. \nConsistently delivers software on-time and is constantly working to make accurate estimates and deliver those estimates. \nTakes initiative to identify and solve important problems, coordinating with others on cross-cutting technical issues.\nIdentifies and proactively refactors technical debt before it grows into debt that requires significant work to resolve. \nKeeps up on industry trends and current technological standards, languages, coding techniques, utilities, and operational considerations. \nAble to enjoy and have fun in an exciting technology-driven software development culture!\nYour Experience, Skills & Competencies\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related discipline.\nMinimum of 2 years of progressive experience in software development, including previous experience in the development of highly transactional, mission critical websites, integrated with large-scale enterprise systems. \nKnowledge of agile software development methodologies, Service Oriented Architecture, and object-oriented programming methodologies. \nProficient in software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.\nSolid developer within the following technologies: \nJava (3+ years)\nSpring MVC, Spring Boot, JMS\nWeb service protocols, such as SOAP or REST\nCloud / AWS\nKnowledge of network, routing, and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS)\nExperienced in secure coding practices\nHave a clear understanding of encryption/decryption methods, authentication, and common IP/application attacks.\nGood understanding of information security principles and best practices.\nExperienced in identifying and resolving security issues such as SQLi, XSS, CSRF, and business logic flaws across large code bases\nOther Preferred Experience\nReact, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, XSL\nFamiliarity with the OWASP Top Ten and CWE Top 25\nRDBMS, SQL, NoSQL\nWeb analytics tools (Omniture, App Dynamics, Google Analytics)\nFamiliarity with build and CI tools such as Maven, Gradle, Jenkins and Sonar\nKnowledge of Akamai CDN and Bot Manager\nExceptional analytical skills. \nExceptional verbal, written and listening communication skills. \nStrong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization and decision-making skills\nYour Team\nThis is an individual contributor role that will report to the Sr. Manager - Software Engineering, Digital Experience.
