You will be responsible for design quality, growing the team, our research practice, our design system, and how designers work with every other function.\nThis is a player-coach role. You will lead and develop designers and build stronger systems, while still rolling up your sleeves on important product problems whenever the team needs senior design judgement.\nYou will report to the Product Executive and coordinate dependencies with other functional teams. You will lead the central Product Design function and help shape how designers are assigned as the organisation grows.\nWhat you will own\nThe quality and coherence of Chowdeck’s product experiences across customer and internal surfaces.\nThe product design team, including hiring, coaching, performance support and allocation across product teams.\nProduct design principles, critique standards and decision quality.\nThe design system and reusable interaction patterns across our products.\nThe product research practice and the quality of evidence behind design decisions.\nDesign operations, including planning, documentation, file organisation and cross-functional collaboration.\nIn this role you’ll be required to:\nSet a clear product design vision and turn it into practical standards for the team.\nCoach designers through discovery, interaction design, prototyping, validation and delivery.\nRun critiques that make the work better and help designers sharpen their judgement.\nPartner with functional leads to shape problems early, not just review interfaces at the end.\nBuild and maintain the design system with clear ownership and adoption expectations.\nImprove how customer research and operational insight feed into product decisions.\nPlan design capacity, spot hiring needs and make sure priority teams get the right level of support.\nCollaborate with other design disciplines while keeping clear ownership of the product experience.\nWhat success looks like\nProduct teams get consistent, high-quality design support and bring Design in early enough to shape decisions.\nDesigners have clear expectations, useful feedback and visible paths to grow.\nShared patterns cut down on inconsistency and repeated design work across products.\nResearch and usability evidence genuinely shape prioritisation and product decisions.\nThe design team can support more product areas without lowering quality or burning people out.\nChowdeck’s product experiences stay simple and coherent as the company expands.\nYou’re perfect for the role if you have:\nAt least 6-7 years of product design experience, including at least 2 years leading, managing or mentoring product designers and raising the quality of a design team.\nStrong experience designing complex mobile and web products, with a portfolio that shows your process and decisions.\nStrong interaction, systems and visual-design judgement.\nExperience partnering closely with other functions from discovery through launch.\nThe ability to move between strategic direction, detailed critique and hands-on design as needed.\nClear communication, empathy, high standards and the ability to give direct, useful feedback.\nBonus points if you have:\nExperience designing for marketplaces, commerce, logistics, fintech or operational tools.\nExperience establishing or scaling a design system.\nExperience building a research practice or improving design operations in a growing company.\nBeyond the paycheck, Chowdeck employees get:\nMacBook for your work\nSmart, kind colleagues invested in your growth\nOpportunities for rapid career progression\nLunch allowance\nRide credits for transport\nSpecific benefits, allowances, and coverage may vary by country or city in line with local regulations and market practices.
