It involves a thorough assessment of parent-child interactions, the application of intervention skills to a broad range of child/teen target behaviors, and the use of relationship enhancement strategies, to promote parental autonomy. Most parents completing the program significantly reduce their use of corporal punishment and other coercive parenting strategies, while building a more positive relationship with their child.\nABOUT THE POSITION:Parent Support Specialist\nPosition Highlights\nThe perfect mix of autonomy and team solidarity to support your day-to-day work.\nTeam meetings and weekly supervision focused on collaboration and professional growth.\nSome schedule flexibility based on client availability.\nConnect with clients in the community at their home, or community settings- Everyday is a new experience!\nOpportunity to facilitate parenting groups as well as individual client sessions.\nMileage reimbursement\nBuild relationships with clients that have a lasting impact on their lives.\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nCarries an average caseload of 10 families receiving intervention, and average 4 months maximum length of service per family.\nCompletes PSS initial Assessment within the first 2 visits and other model specific assessments per model requirements.\nProvide Level 4 Standard Triple P and Level 4 Teen Triple P curriculum interventions per model fidelity lasting 10-16 sessions of 1-2 hours per session.\nProvide Circle of Security Parenting intervention lasting 10-16 sessions of 1-2 hours per session or if provided as a group lasting 8-10 sessions.\nProvide case management services consistent with the Wraparound philosophy by assisting the family with identifying and prioritizing family needs, navigating and using community resources, creating a family budget, selecting and providing substitute caregivers, linking to traditional and non-traditional services and support systems, and identifying and using public and/or alternative transportation methods.\nProvide crisis planning to anticipate potential crisis situations and assistance.\nCollaboration with the DCF worker by maintaining frequent contact for open DCF cases regarding the family’s progress.\nAttend Permanency Team meetings held for any in-home or out-of home cases.\nParticipate in supervision and peer support meetings as required by the model.\nWorks a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the caregivers and includes evening and weekend hours as needed.\nDemonstrates competency in age-related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each population served.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services or a related field is preferred. Candidates with an associate’s degree plus two years of related experience or candidates with a High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of related experience will be considered with approved waiver from the funder.\nExperience: Direct experience working with children and families. Preference will be given to individuals who have done home-based work with families.\nLicensure/Certification/Registration: None\nTraining: Preference will be given to individuals who are already trained in Triple P and/or Circle of Security.
