CSEC is looking for an Assistant Field Layout Engineer in our Knoxville, Tennessee region.\nWhat You Will Do:\nAs an Assistant Field Layout Engineer, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:\nTakes direction from supervisor (QC Manager, Field Layout Engineer).\n\nEstablishes building corners and permanent reference points to allow back checks of building location.\n\nLay out wall / column / anchor bolt pattern center lines for correct installation of rebar, formwork embeds etc\n\nSets and maintains benchmarks and control lines on each floor for use in layout, and verify that workers are using proper elevations and control lines.\n\nChecks slab for elevation and alignment during concrete pours.\n\nPerforms as-built surveys to verify correct placement of work and to identify conflicts between items of work (i.e., where concrete slab edge or walls have encroached on the exterior skin), and may help maintain as-built drawings.\n\nRead drawings to identify required dimensions to perform layout listed above and confirms no conflicts between drawing sets (Structural, Architectural, Civil, Etc.)\n\nCalculates earth, rock, and concrete quantities accurately.\n\nAssist with the coordination of shop drawings with contract drawings, verifies accuracy, and proposes solutions to discrepancies between the drawings.\n\nResponsible for care, maintenance, and calibration of engineering equipment.\n\nCompile and maintain project record and as-built documents.\n\nExpected Hours of Work and Travel: Full time position, with occasional extended hours and weekends. Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives. Majority of travel done during work hours; overnight stays may be required.\nWhat You Will Bring to the Team:\nRequired experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nFive (5) years of experience as a tradesperson in construction.\n\nGraduation from relevant trade school with certificate in surveying.\n\nOr equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.\n\nPreferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nBasic understanding of Trimble and Nikon equipment\n\nBasic understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics.\n\nExperience within general trade carpentry.\n\nTwo years in construction carpentry experience.\n\nThe Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
