CMAC is looking for Concrete Finisher Apprentices in our Sterling, Virginia region.\nWhat You Will Do:\nAs a Concrete Finisher Apprentice, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:\nCompletes concrete place and finish trade work.\n\nTakes direction from supervisor (foreman or superintendent).\n\nLearns trade of placing, consolidating, and finishing concrete.\n\nLearns methods for screeding concrete to correct elevations.\n\nLearns methods / techniques for placing and consolidating concrete to appropriate grade.\n\nLearns methods for finishing concrete including timing requirements for different finish types.\n\nLearns how different mix designs and admixtures affects placing and finishing.\n\nLearns process for achieving floor flatness and levelness requirements.\n\nLearns techniques for curing concrete.\n\nLearns techniques for early entry saw cutting control joints in concrete.\n\nLearns tools and equipment associated with place and finish operations.\n\nLearns methods for concrete surface and structural repairs.\n\nCompletes ACI certification course for placing and finishing concrete.\n\nIntroduced to reading and understanding blueprint and specification reading.\n\nCompletes silica awareness training.\n\nExpected Hours of Work: Full time, more than 40-hours a week. May work nights and weekends, construction may sometimes continue around the clock to meet deadlines.\nTravel: Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.\nPay: $16.50-$28.50 per hour.\nWhat You Will Bring to the Team:\nRequired experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nThere are no minimum educational requirements.\n\nPreferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nHave general knowledge of basic concrete and hand tools.\n\nFive (5) years of construction concrete or related construction experience.\n\nAdditional Eligibility Qualifications\nMust have own hand tools and be proficient in operating a variety of tools.\n\nMust understand safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.\n\nHave the ability to take measurements and make calculations.\n\nAbility to work well with supervision and peers.\n\nHave good communication skills both orally and in writing.\n\nMust pass any skills tests as required by the jobsite.\n\nAbility to problem solve when errors occur.\n\nKeep tools and workspace organized.\n\nMust be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.\n\nMaintain regular and punctual attendance.\n\nThe Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
