CCI is looking for a Controller in our Lansing, Michigan region!\nWhat You Will Do:\nAs a Controller, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:\nEstablishes and maintains financial controls to secure the company’s financial resources. Understands and assist with other functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Contracts.\nCompletes company and state specific tasks and reporting, as required.\nPrepares work papers supporting the completion of annual tax returns.\nMentors and develops accounting team members, providing ample opportunity for career advancement and satisfaction while ensuring maximum utilization of staff and their talents.\nCoordinates the preparation of annual tax return with outside CPA firm, and the annual audit with outside CPAs.\nReviews the processing of journal entries required to reflect monthly activity.\nPrepares work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances.\nReviews monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.\nPrepares monthly financial statements.\nPerforms cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances.\nPrepares monthly work in process report and ability to accurately project year-end figures for total revenue and gross profit.\nSupervises accounts payable processing for assigned companies. This includes payables and allocations of costs incurred on behalf of multiple entities.\nMaintains fixed asset records. Implements, documents, and maintains adequate and effective internal controls.\nImplements, documents, and maintains adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.\nResponsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.\nProduces accurate financial information in a timely manner.\nConducts proper analytical review of the asset operations from a balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow perspective as well as an overall business perspective.\nPrepares monthly financial management reports for leadership, along with appropriate analysis and recommendations for any corrective actions needed.\nPrepares quarterly business unit reports providing analysis of revenue, cash flow, G&A expenses, and staff utilization.\nLeads staff on all sales/use tax, workers comp, CGL, and other audits as needed.\nExpected Hours of Work: This position regularly requires flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities and unpredictable events. Occasional unscheduled after hours support is required.\nTravel: Must have reliable transportation. Travel is limited and primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-area and overnight travel.\nWhat You Will Bring to the Team:\nRequired experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nMinimum ten (10) years’ experience in the accounting and finance sector.\n-or- Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.\nPreferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nMaster’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting.\nFour (4) years’ experience managing direct reports within an Accounting Department and the accounting and finance process.\nThree (3) years’ experience working as a Controller, preferably in the construction industry.\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.\nCertified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation.\nAdditional Eligibility Qualifications\nProven ability to maintain the highest levels of integrity, and handle, update, and maintain sensitive information in a confidential, timely, and professional manner.\nHigh level of accuracy and advanced attention to detail.\nExcellent communication and writing skills.\nAbility to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.\nEmploy problem-solving skills and analysis and report problems.\nStrong service orientation and knowledge of the project structure in a client/consultant business environment.\nThe Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
