Our internship program provides undergraduate students opportunities to learn about different building types and delivery methods while gaining on-the-job experience in the various markets we build in.\nThe Christman Company is looking for Estimating Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program in our Sterling, Virginia region!\nWhat You Will Do:\nAs an Estimating Engineer Intern, primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:\nRead and interpret drawings and project specifications\n\nSurvey/quantify materials from drawings\n\nDevelop knowledge of 2D On-Screen Takeoff/3D QTO technologies and our estimating platform\n\nOrganize quantity takeoffs for ease of audit\n\nEstimate interiors\n\nLearn basic structural/civil estimating at Design Development /Construction level drawings\n\nContact/follow-up with trade contractors/suppliers for pricing\n\nUtilize the latest collaboration software for document control and distribution\n\nDevelop knowledge of construction pricing\n\nMake recommendations for software upgrades\n\nMake recommendations for database pricing changes\n\nBecome familiar with the project's mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, how they interact with the architecture and support the function of a building.\n\nParticipate in active project site visits. Experience in-progress construction processes and apply that knowledge in the planning effort.\n\nVirtual Design & Construction (BIM) concentration: assist the project planning team develop 4D models, Facility Asset Management Models, and utilize Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies\n\nWhat You Will Bring to the Team:\nRequired experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nActive, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.\n\nMinimum 3.0 GPA\n\nPreferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nPrevious work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.\n\nShows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.\n\nPay: $23.00 per hour\nThe Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
