CCI is looking for a Field Layout Engineer in our Central Michigan or West Michigan region!\nWhat You Will Do:\nAs Field Layout Engineer, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:\nPlans, sets up, and maintains layout control for assigned construction project(s) and identifies unacceptable errors.\nEnsures that projects are built to the correct tolerances, and that quality standards are followed.\nEstablishes building corners and permanent reference points to allow back checks of building location. \nVerifies existing elevations shown on drawings used on roadways and utilities. \nLays out column center lines and wall locations, and verifies that exterior skin is not encroached by main structure. \nPlumbs structural steel frame and check column alignments. \nSets and maintains benchmarks and control lines on each floor for use in layout, and verify that workers are using proper elevations and control lines. \nChecks slab for elevation and alignment during concrete pours. \nPerforms as-built surveys to verify correct placement of work and to identify conflicts between items of work (i.e., where concrete slab edge or walls have encroached on the exterior skin), and may help maintain as-built drawings. \nAssists other project staff in securing certified layout from independent engineering resources to establish monument and baseline control and to verify building corners and roadway entrances. \nCalculates earth, rock, and concrete quantities accurately. \nAssists with the coordination of shop drawings with contract drawings, verifies accuracy, and proposes solutions to discrepancies between the drawings. \nResponsible for care, maintenance, and calibration of engineering equipment. \nCompiles and maintains project record and as-built documents. Ensures storage protocols are followed.\nWhat You Will Bring to the Team:\nRequired experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nThree (3) or more years of experience in Building Layout and using Total Station \nGraduation from relevant trade school with certificate in surveying. Or equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience. \nPreferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:\nBasic understanding of Trimble and Nikon equipment \nBasic understanding of research methodology, data analysis, and estimation metrics. \nExperience within general trade carpentry. \nThe Christman family of companies is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer that is committed to diversity.
