In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience working on meaningful projects that support aerospace component manufacturing and repair while developing technical and professional skills alongside experienced engineers, operations leaders, and automation specialists.\n\nThe successful candidate will support the development and implementation of advanced automation solutions used in the repair and manufacturing of aerospace and industrial gas turbine components. This includes exposure to collaborative robotics (COBOTs), machine vision systems, automated marking technologies, industrial controls, data acquisition systems, and process improvement initiatives within an FAA Repair Station environment.\n\nWhy Gear Up?\nAt Chromalloy, interns and co-ops do more than observe. opportunities.\n\nWhat You’ll Be Doing\nAssist with integration and testing of collaborative robots (COBOTs), end-of-arm tooling, weighing systems, machine vision technologies, and automated marking equipment\nSupport development and documentation of repair processes for turbine, compressor, and combustor components\nAssist with process improvement initiatives through data collection, analysis, and structured problem-solving methods\nTrack process metrics and KPIs to support manufacturing and repair process performance\nSupport engineering projects through technical documentation, data gathering, testing, and project coordination activities\nCollaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams on continuous improvement initiatives\nAssist with evaluating equipment, tooling, and process design alternatives\nHelp troubleshoot production and process-related issues while supporting root cause analysis activities\nPrepare technical reports, procedures, specifications, and presentations\nPresent project findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders\nLearn and comply with aerospace manufacturing, FAA, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline\nStrong academic standing and available for the duration of the internship\nInterest in industrial automation, robotics, aerospace manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 technologies\nDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications\nAbility to read, write, and speak English fluently\n\nNice to Have\nExperience through coursework, projects, robotics clubs, competitions, laboratories, or prior internships involving automation, robotics, controls, or manufacturing systems\nFamiliarity with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX\nExposure to PLCs, industrial controls, sensors, HMI systems, or industrial communication protocols\nFamiliarity with robotics, mechatronics, or automation systems\nBasic programming experience with Python, MATLAB, C#, or similar languages\nExposure to machine vision, barcode scanning, automated inspection systems, or Industry 4.0 technologies\nCoursework related to gas turbine design, manufacturing, or repair processes\nExperience with data analysis, continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, or root cause problem-solving methodologies\n\nWork Environment & Physical Requirements\nThis position is based in a manufacturing and aerospace component repair environment\nThe role will involve time spent in engineering offices, laboratories, and production areas\nMust be able to comply with all safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory
