We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Energy accounting team. This position will play an active role in the month end close and financial reporting process for designated Energy refined fuels and propane business units. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong desire to learn and implement process improvements. The ability to prioritize, efficiently plan work activities, and be detail and results oriented is critical to the position.\nResponsibilities\nComplete monthly close activities, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other required financial close tasks.\nPrepare, analyze, and review general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company accounting policies.\nPerform accounting and reconciliation activities for assigned Energy business units.\nSupport inventory and commercial accounting activities, including pipeline inventories and tariffs, exchange transactions, contract deposits, freight accruals, and related processes.\nManage refined fuels and propane inventory accounting, including product costing, inventory reconciliations, and book-to-physical inventory reconciliations.\nPrepare and support regulatory and external reporting requirements, including PERC and SEC reporting.\nPerform financial analyses to identify trends and support key estimates, including accruals and reserves.\nPartner with operations, commercial teams, and finance functions to resolve accounting issues, support business objectives, and improve financial processes.\nExecute, document, and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, including support for control design and operating effectiveness.\nCoordinate with internal and external auditors to support audits, reviews, and compliance requirements.\nIdentify and implement process improvements focused on efficiency, standardization, SAP optimization, automation, system enhancements, and reporting capabilities.\nChampion a strong safety culture by following safety policies, identifying workplace hazards, and addressing unsafe conditions.\nPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.\nMinimum Qualifications (required)\nBachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, statistics, economics, Business Administration, or related field \n4+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting\nAdditional Qualifications\nKnowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)\nCPA, CMA, or CFA certification\nExperience with SAP accounting software\nProficient in MS Office suite\nPrevious Energy related experience\nPrevious cost accounting experience\nEnterprise transformation experience\nPre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position.
