At CHS, we are creating connections to empower agriculture.\nSummary\nCHS has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, Kansas. We are looking for a Process Safety Engineering Intern to provide technical support assistance on matters relating to process safety management within our refinery setting, and will be responsible for assisting with the monitoring of company safety programs, policies, and compliance with federal, state and local safety codes and regulations. You must be detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.\nResponsibilities\nAssist in identifying and resolving basic safety issues.\nUtilize computer systems and spreadsheets to analyze, monitor and track safety systems.\nIdentify substandard conditions and communicates findings.\nUse fact-based analysis to help identify root causes of process safety problems or incidents.\nAssist with developing recommendations and monitoring implementations.\nAnalyze data and provide comprehensive reports.\nFunction as part of a team in all aspects of the business strategy that applicant might be associated with.\nInteract effectively with line management, employees, union personnel, professional staff and regulatory inspectors and builds relationships.\nAssist the CHS Safety Group when working with suppliers and contractor services in supporting company safety initiatives and generating cost avoidance/savings strategies.\nCommunicate (when directed) across the CHS business units to share concepts and implementation strategies.\nPlan, organize and prioritize issues impacting the CHS Safety Group.\nMinimum Qualifications (required)\nCurrently enrolled in a Safety Engineering/Safety Management or Chemical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.\nAvailable to work 40 hours per week.\nAdditional Qualifications\nCurrently a Junior enrolled in a Safety or Chemical Engineering program at a four-year college/university.\nPrevious internship experience in the petrochemical or refining industry.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.\nCHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions.
