Apply today to learn more about the opportunity and the unbeatable benefits CHS offers.\nPreferably located within Sioux Falls, SD or St. Paul, MN area\nResponsibilities\nReview, analyze and select the best sources of supply, and select vendors based off that information. \nNegotiate prices, terms and delivery of feed ingredients to keep our customers’ orders in full and on time.\nEvaluate alternative sources of supply and vendors, paying attention to quality and specifications of ingredients sourced. Create purchase orders and contracts when applicable.\nResponsible for placing orders with vendors and completing purchase orders in the ERP.\nContact vendors with any quality discrepancies and address issues quickly.\nCommunicate ingredient supply issues to other business functions along with the Purchasing manager to help with communication and reformulation efforts.\nWork closely with Global Grain Marketing personnel (i.e., grain merchants, originators, and CHS Hedging) to leverage our scale and other product lines to reduce our cost of goods.\nBuild strong working relationships with Plant Managers and Production Teams.\nMust have prior experience and knowledge of the feed industry, ingredient purchasing and logistics, relative value merchandising, and working knowledge of formulation activities.\nDevelop purchasing strategies for ingredients responsible for.\nMaintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.\nPerform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.\nMinimum Qualifications (required)\nHigh School diploma or GED\n4+ years of experience in supply chain managmenet, procurement, puchasing and commodity trading/ merchandising.\nAdditional Qualifications\nAdvanced knowledge of Purchasing Best Business Practice, Math, & Ethics. \nManufacturing purchasing experience, preferably within the animal nutrition industry.\nAbility to establish and maintain strong professional relationships\nStrong communication skills, both written and verbal\nAbility to influence and negotiate\nStrong decision-making skills\nProficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Teams) \nBachelor's degree preferred in Animal Science/ Nutrition, Ag Business, Ag economics, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field \nPre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position.
