The Financial Analysis is responsible for performing core accounting functions and maintaining financial records, including journal entries, conducting monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, monthly and quarterly internal and external financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within the finance team and across departments.\nRelationship & Scope\nThe Financial Analyst - Combined is a pivotal team member of the Finance unit. The Financial Analyst will interact with a diverse group of internal personnel including other accounting team members, and Financial Planning and Analysis personnel and/or functional staff to interpret financial data and operational performance, as well as reporting financial data to external insurance agencies.\nKey Responsibilities\nResponsible for coordination of monthly interface posting and correction of any errors booked to suspense in addition to researching cause of errors and solutioning\n\nPrepare and post monthly journal entries from multiple sources within and outside of the team; effective communication to journal entry requesters is required\n\nPrepare quarterly reconciliations including but not limited to, DAC, VOBA, and Future Policy Benefit Reserves, for review and sign-off\n\nResearch and provide explanations for quarterly GAAP flux analysis for items that are outside predetermined thresholds\n\nWork with the Chubb shared service team responsible for Statutory reporting to research and provide explanations, where applicable, for quarterly STAT flux analysis\n\nComplete quarterly schedules for the Internal Reporting Process (“IRP”) which requires coordination with sources across the organization and explanations where applicable\n\nResearch and complete various account reconciliations in Blackline tool with proper classifications of balances and aging\n\nPerform statutory projections of income and surplus\n\nVerifying the accuracy of the financial statements by reviewing the general ledger and back-end system processing along with creating efficiencies to our processes\n\nAnalyze current financial processes and identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nContinue to support departmental initiatives and play an active role in completing special projects as identified by management\n\nAssist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations as required.\n\nDevelop relationships with colleagues/interested parties within and outside the organization\n\nQualifications\n\nTechnical Skills:\nBachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Accounting or Finance\n\n3-4 years of accounting experience; insurance industry experience a plus\n\nStrong understanding of accounting principles including knowledge of GAAP\n\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills\n\nStrong computer skills with an ability to learn accounting and insurance financial reporting for Life and A&H companies\n\nAbility to multi-task and work under tight deadlines\n\nStrong organizational skills\n\nMicrosoft Word and Excel experience required\n\nProven problem-solving skills\n\nCPA or pursuing CPA certification a plus but not required\n\nRequired Personal Skills:\nTeam player with customer service orientation\n\nProfessional attitude, appearance and demeanor\n\nStrong time management and organizational skills\n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\n\nEnthusiastic self-starter\n\nDemonstrates integrity and dedication\n\nThe pay range for the role is $69,000 to $101,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
