This is an individual contributor role with meaningful influence on tooling choices, automation strategy, and team quality culture.\nMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nAutomation Engineering\nDesign, build, and maintain a scalable end-to-end test automation framework using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).\n\nDevelop and maintain API test suites using Playwright APIRequestContext or Postman/Newman, covering REST and SOAP services.\n\nIntegrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions), enforcing quality gates at every stage.\n\nMaintain test data strategies and environment configurations to support reliable, repeatable test execution.\n\nProduce clear automation reports, dashboards, and metrics to communicate coverage and quality health to stakeholders.\n\nAI-Augmented Testing\nLeverage AI-assisted tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Mabl, Testim, Applitools, or LLM-based test generation) to accelerate test authoring and maintenance.\n\nApply AI/ML techniques for intelligent test case prioritisation, self-healing locators, and anomaly detection in test results.\n\nStay current with emerging AI testing capabilities and evaluate their applicability to the Travel Insurance tech stack.\n\nContribute to establishing guardrails and best practices for responsible AI usage within the QA lifecycle.\n\nFunctional & Non-Functional Testing\nAnalyse business requirements, identify gaps, and ensure comprehensive test coverage across functional modules.\n\nExecute and oversee regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and UAT testing cycles.\n\nContribute to performance and load testing using tools such as k6 or JMeter where required.\n\nValidate security-related test scenarios and flag vulnerabilities in collaboration with the security team.\n\nWork with business analysts and product owners on acceptance criteria definition and acceptance testing.\n\nCollaboration & Quality Culture\nChampion shift-left quality practices: embed QA thinking into planning, design, and development stages.\n\nPartner with developers during defect triage, root cause analysis, and test-driven development initiatives.\n\nContribute to test plan creation, estimation, and risk-based testing strategies.\n\nMentor junior QA team members and promote automation best practices across the team.\n\nCommunicate risks, defect trends, and coverage status clearly to delivery leads and stakeholders.\n\nEXPERIENCE\nMust-Have\n4+ years of software testing experience, with at least 2 years focused on test automation.\n\nStrong hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript or JavaScript) for UI and API test automation.\n\nSolid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.\n\nProficiency in API testing (REST/SOAP) using Playwright, Postman, or equivalent tooling.\n\nGood command of SQL for data validation and query-based test verification.\n\nExperience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.\n\nStrong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a quality-first mindset.\n\nExcellent communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English.\n\nStrong Advantage\nPractical experience using AI-assisted testing tools or LLM-based test generation (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Applitools, Mabl, Testim).\n\nFamiliarity with performance testing tools (k6, JMeter) or security testing basics (OWASP).\n\nExperience in the insurance or financial services domain, particularly travel insurance products.\n\nKnowledge of cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure; Azure certification is a plus.\n\nExposure to contract testing (e.g. Pact) and observability tooling (Dynatrace, Azure App Insights).\n\nExperience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Gherkin) integrated with Playwright.\n\nFamiliarity with ISTQB testing standards; ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification is a plus.\n\nTECHNICAL SKILLS\nTest Automation: Playwright (primary), Selenium (secondary), Cypress (awareness)\n\nLanguages: TypeScript / JavaScript (required);
