The Underwriter is responsible for the production, underwriting, and maintenance of new and renewal umbrella and excess casualty accounts within an assigned territory.\nThe Underwriter establishes and maintains productive relationships with brokers and internal business partners to support the continued flow of new business opportunities and the retention of existing accounts.\nPrimary responsibilities include:\nSolicit and evaluate new and renewal submissions from brokers.\nAnalyze casualty exposures, loss experience, financial information, and risk controls.\nSelect, price, and structure risks in accordance with established underwriting strategies and authority.\nDetermine appropriate coverage terms and conditions.\nPrepare quotes and document underwriting decisions.\nManage assigned accounts and portfolios within underwriting authority.\nDevelop and maintain strong broker relationships.\nParticipate in broker and client meetings.\nNegotiate effectively while balancing customer needs with underwriting profitability.\nAdhere to Chubb standards for pricing, documentation, and account servicing.\nSupport the National Accounts and Excess Casualty business plans through effective portfolio management and collaboration.\n Knowledge of the commercial insurance industry and casualty underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.\nAbility to identify and evaluate risk exposures, hazards, controls, and loss trends.\nAbility to analyze claims information and quantify loss exposure.\nUnderstanding of financial statements and financial ratios used in risk analysis.\nUnderstanding of actuarial concepts, including loss development, loss trends, and ratemaking.\nStrong analytical, decision-making, negotiation, and marketing skills.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to build productive relationships with brokers, clients, and internal business partners.\nAbility to organize, prioritize, and manage work with limited direction.\nAbility to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and applicable underwriting systems.\nThe pay range for the role is $82,000 - $118,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
