The Vice President, Principal Resilience Engineerwill provide engineering leadership for Chubb’s Community Resilience Initiative, connecting building design, construction, and community-scale mitigation with measurable reductions in damage, disruption, and insured losses.\nWe are looking for an experienced, creative engineer who can move beyond code compliance to ask:What will meaningfully reduce long-term risk for the community, at various scales of intervention, and how can we demonstrate that it works? The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in one or more perils, including wildfire, coastal and inland flooding, wind, and severe storms, together with a strong understanding of how buildings are designed, constructed, retrofitted, and maintained.\nReporting to the Executive Vice President, Global Resilience and Risk Consulting, and working hand-in-hand with the Vice President, Community Resilience, the Principal Resilience Engineer will work across Chubb’s risk consulting, underwriting, catastrophe modeling, claims, and analytics teams, as well as with external stakeholders, including property owners, developers, community associations, local governments, and utilities. The Principal Resilience Engineer will be responsible for establishing the technical basis for verified risk reduction and modeled loss reduction that supports community-scale resilience investments. They will be the technical backing to inform where verified risk reduction may support improved insurance availability, capacity, and responsible business growth, in collaboration with Underwriting, Actuarial, Catastrophe Modeling, and Risk Engineering.\nThis position offers a flexible location, with travel expected to support project delivery in targeted communities and key stakeholder engagements.\nWhy This Role Matters\nCommunities need more than information about their climate risk. They need clear, technically credible guidance about which interventions will reduce losses.\nThis is an opportunity to shape how engineering evidence translates into resilience investment and insurance confidence. The Principal Resilience Engineer will help communities understand what to do, help partners implement effective solutions, and help Chubb recognize meaningful risk reduction - supporting safer properties, stronger communities, and the responsible expansion of insurance in catastrophe-exposed markets.\nResponsibilities\nServe as a senior technical authority on building and community resilience, bringing subject matter expertise in one or more natural catastrophe perils and coordinating specialists across other disciplines. \nLead field assessments and technical reviews to identify how buildings, sites, infrastructure, and surrounding conditions contribute to damage and loss. \nDevelop prioritized recommendations across property, neighborhood, and community scales, recognizing where individual building improvements depend on coordinated action beyond the property boundary. \nApply performance-based engineering judgment to develop solutions that extend beyond minimum code requirements and account for future climate conditions, asset life, and uncertainty. \nTranslate recommendations into actionable scopes, design criteria, technical guidance, and implementation pathways for property owners and community partners. \nPartner with catastrophe modelers and analysts to translate physical vulnerabilities and proposed mitigation measures into appropriate modeling assumptions and scenarios. \nAssess whether modeled risk reductions are supported by engineering evidence, field conditions, and observed loss experience; identify limitations and additional validation needs. \nWork with underwriting and risk consulting colleagues to define meaningful mitigation criteria, documentation, and verification requirements that can inform risk selection, capacity, and other insurance decisions. \nSupport evaluation of mitigation costs against potential reductions in damage, loss, and disruption, clearly communicating uncertainty and remaining exposure. \nEstablish consistent assessment methods, technical review processes, and quality standards that can be applied across communities while accommodating local conditions. \nExplain technical findings and recommendations clearly to homeowners, community leaders, business partners, and senior executives. \nMentor colleagues and turn project findings into practical guidance that strengthens Chubb’s broader resilience capabilities. \n Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, coastal, environmental, fire protection, or another relevant engineering discipline. \nAt least 10 years of relevant professional experiencein engineering design, construction, building performance, natural hazard mitigation, resilience, or related risk engineering work.\nActive Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. \nDemonstrated subject matter expertise inone or more of the following perils: wildfire; coastal flooding; inland flooding; wind, including hurricanes; or severe storms, including hail and tornadoes.\nDeep knowledge of building design and construction, including materials, structural and envelope systems, construction practices, retrofit methods, and common failure mechanisms. \nDemonstrated ability to develop practical engineering solutions that exceed minimum code requirements and address long-term performance under a changing climate. \nStrong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence decisions across disciplines and organizations. \nAn entrepreneurial approach: comfortable defining problems, proposing a path forward, and adapting as evidence and requirements evolve. \nWillingness to travel for site assessments, project delivery, and partner engagement. \nCollaborative mindset with a willingness to learn, take direction, and contribute to team success. \nStrong attention to detail and follow-through. \nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline. \nExperience assessing both individual buildings and the community systems that influence their exposure and performance. \nFamiliarity with catastrophe modeling, property insurance, underwriting, or loss prevention. \nExperience working with residential communities, HOAs, developers, local governments, utilities, or public infrastructure owners. \nA record of advancing innovative approaches through technical standards, applied research, pilot projects, or professional leadership.\nThe pay range for the role is $158,550 to $229,950. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7113,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":10,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Property & Casualty Insurance","Reinsurance"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-22T01:48:19Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"GB","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"Licensed UK visa sponsor (Senior or Specialist Worker, Skilled Worker)","filings_12m":null,"filings_prev_12m":null,"green_card_filings_12m":null,"median_offered_wage_usd":null,"route":"Global Business Mobility: Senior or Specialist Worker; Skilled Worker","cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-30T06:20:16+00:00","sources":["UK Home Office: register of licensed sponsors (workers)"],"filings_for_role_12m":0}],"liveness":{"score":56,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.619,"p_room":0.9,"age_days":8,"expected_fill_days":12,"reasons":["conf:2","stale_co","velocity","win:mid","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-30T05:48:23Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":229950,"is_top_pay":true},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/chubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/chubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-30T16:35:17Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4777,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-31T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":18935},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=18935"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fchubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fchubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fchubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/chubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fchubb-vp-principal-resilience-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3049183}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"chubb.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3049183},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
