This role is responsible for applying formulation science, ingredient knowledge, consumer insights, and competitive intelligence to support innovation across categories such as hand sanitizers, skin care, body care, deodorants, mists, and other personal care and OTC products.\nAbout the Role\nThe Research Chemist/Scientist will contribute to product ideation, claims substantiation, and formulation development from concept through commercialization.\nWork Environment\nHybrid: This is a hybrid role based in Princeton, NJ and requires in-person attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays.\nRole Accountabilities and Responsibilities\nConduct bench-top formulation and development of personal care products.\nExecute laboratory experiments and help design experiments. Conduct formula evaluation and stability testing. Collect and analyze data. Report results and suggest next steps. Manage databases released to product categories.\nPrepare and maintain product and raw material specifications and basic experimental procedures.\nCoordinate and support testing by internal service groups and/or external testing labs.\nCollect and help analyze consumer feedback, understand consumer needs and the gaps between needs and existing products, prepare summary reports, and initiate/conduct follow-through tasks.\nPrepare and assemble bundle books, Project Summary Sheets, SDS submissions, and other relevant documentation to support the launch of new products. Lead product release meetings as needed.\nProvide technical input during concept development, feasibility assessments, product claims discussions, risk reviews, and stage-gate evaluations.\nRepresent Product Development on cross-functional project teams and provide updates on technical deliverables, project milestones, risks, and timelines.\nSkills and Competencies\n Understanding of personal care and OTC formulation science, ingredient functionality, and product performance testing.\nStrong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.\nAbility to independently manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced innovation environment.\n Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and documentation practices.\nResults-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation and consumer-centric product development.\nProficient in Microsoft Office applications and scientific data management systems.\nEducation and Experience\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.\nMinimum 3+ years of experience in personal care, cosmetics, OTC, consumer packaged goods, or related product development environments.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster's or Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline is preferred\nExperience with topical products, sprays, emulsions, hydroalcoholic systems, skin-benefit ingredients, or OTC active ingredients is preferred. \nProficiency with Microsoft Suite.\nCompensation and Benefits\nThe U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $71,000- $101,100. This position is also eligible for a bonus.\nAs a Church & Dwight US employee, you (and eligible dependents, as applicable) will have access to medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid vacation and sick time, and Paid Parental Leave. U.S. employees are entitled to paid holidays, floating holidays, and vacation days starting in their first year of employment depending on hire date. You are also able to participate in our 401k retirement plan (with company match and profit-sharing) and Discounted Employee Stock Purchase Plan.\nThe actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay parity.
