Contributions help enable reliable, scalable software capabilities across multiple product areas.\nHow you will make an impact:\nDesign, implement, and maintain real-time embedded platform and application software.\nDevelop hardware and software interfaces that bridge abstraction layers.\nBuild fault and alarm subsystems to detect, report, and manage defects.\nCreate system applications for traffic protection, equipment protection, and performance monitoring.\nDevelop platform interfaces that abstract low-level software and hardware components.\nThe must haves:\nEducation: Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master's degree in computer or electrical engineering, computer science, or similar disciplines\n Experience: Previous internship, co-op, or applied project experience relevant to the role.\nCoding with C or C++\nHigh-level programming and scripting languages such as Python or bash\nKnowledge of software revision control systems such as git\nFamiliarity with software design patterns (e.g., blocking vs non-blocking, multithreading)\nNice to haves:\nDeveloping software for embedded systems or telecom products\nUnderstanding of real-time operating systems and embedded systems\nSoftware development tools such as git, BitBucket, Gerrit, Jira, etc.\nUnit test frameworks such as Google Test, JUnit, Robot, PyTest, Unity and the like\nDebuggers and tools (e.g., gdb), especially for troubleshooting embedded systems\nSoftware development methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall\nBare metal programming\nPay Range: The annual pay range for this role is $68,800 - $109,800\nPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
