This role contributes to technologyselection, cost optimization, risk mitigation, and supplier partnership development across the semiconductor supply chain. Success in this position helps ensure the availability of critical components while supporting business growth and operational objectives.\nHow you will make an impact:\nDevelop and implement semiconductor commodity strategies focused on technology, quality, supply, and costobjectives.\nAlign commodity strategies with organizational goals through collaboration with internal stakeholders.\nMonitorsemiconductor market trends, supplier landscapes, technology developments, product costs, and supply conditions to inform sourcing decisions.\nPartner with R&Dteams toonboard products and suppliers that align with commodity strategies and innovation initiatives.\nLead negotiations tooptimizetotal cost of ownership for semiconductor components throughout the product lifecycle.\nResolve supply shortages through engagement with suppliers and EMS partners tomaintainsupply continuity.\nBuild supplier relationships and conduct recurring business reviews to ensure alignment with business objectives. The must haves:\nEducation: 4-year Business Degree.\nExperience: 5+ years of experience in semiconductor procurement.\nApplication of semiconductor technologies, semiconductor industry trends, and supplier ecosystems.\nUtilizationof semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fabrication, assembly, and testing.\nExperience leading cross-functional teams across R&D, Product Line Management, Operations, and Quality on commodity initiatives.\nStrong negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and develop internal and external relationships.\nExpertisein defining and implementing supply strategies to mitigate risks, ensure continuity of supply, andoptimizesupplier relationships. Nice tohaves:\nTechnical acumen related to wafer fabrication technology, lithography, packaging, and should-cost modeling.\nKnowledge of geopolitical supply chain risk indicators related to semiconductors.\nApplication of AI technologies across sourcing, procurement, and supply chain activities.\nAbility to work effectively under pressure while managing priorities and timelines.\nThe annual pay range for this position in Canada is $97, 300 - $155, 300 CAD\nThe annual pay range for this position in California is $123,400 - $197,000 USD\n#LI-Remote\nPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
