This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide outcomes while building and leading a high-performing global team in a company recognized as the global leader in high-speed connectivity.\nHow you will make an impact:\nLead and develop a global Indirect Procurement organization, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.\n\nRepresent Indirect Procurement as a strategic partner to senior leaders and executives, strengthening trust and enterprise alignment.\n\nDefine and execute a global Indirect Procurement strategy that optimizes sourcing, supplier management, and governance.\n\nLeverage market intelligence and industry trends to drive thought leadership, mitigate risk, and optimize enterprise spend.\n\nEstablish and champion procurement policies, tools, and technologies to improve transparency, efficiency, and compliance.\n\nPartner with Finance and Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to deliver annual savings targets aligned to corporate financial goals.\n\nDrive global sourcing, negotiation, and contract management initiatives that strengthen supplier performance and relationships.\n\nThe must haves:\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field OR Master’s degree in a related field.\n\nExperience: 7+ years of leadership experience in senior procurement roles within a global organization, with demonstrated success in team development and transformation.\n\nMinimum of 20 years of experience in Procurement.\n\nDemonstrated ability to influence and engage senior leaders in complex, matrixed environments to deliver measurable business outcomes.\n\nPolished communicator with experience developing and delivering presentations to diverse audiences.\n\nHighly collaborative and relationship-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted internal partnerships.\n\nExpertise in supplier negotiation, contract management, and building collaborative supplier relationships.\n\nProficiency in data analytics and procurement technologies, including Power BI, Oracle, and Excel.\n\nStrong financial acumen with a solid understanding of financial statements and business performance drivers.\n\nNice to haves:\nCertifications: Advanced certifications in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management [CPSM], Certified Supply Chain Professional [CSCP]).\n\nExperience using or implementing source-to-pay technologies, including e-sourcing, Oracle, Coupa, contract lifecycle management tools, or spend analytics.\n\nProven success leading initiatives in sustainability, supplier diversity, or supplier risk management.\n\nPay Range:\nThe salary range for this role in the USA is $181, 000 - $289, 100\nPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
