Work alongside cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and enterprise-grade software solutions.\nHow you will make an impact:\nLead the design, development, testing, and deployment of microservices and REST APIs built with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and Kafka using Agile methodologies.\nDevelop and maintain scalable REST APIs and backend services for enterprise networking and automation platforms.\nDrive technical direction through design reviews, code quality initiatives, performance tuning, and production readiness activities.\nArchitect cloud-native applications that deliver high availability, performance, and scalability.\nImplement containerized solutions using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift in cloud environments.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes that improve system reliability.\nCollaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical features while driving continuous improvement.\nThe must haves:\nEducation: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.\nExperience: 8+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on expertise in Java and Spring Boot.\nDeep experience designing and building microservices, REST APIs, and distributed systems.\nStrong knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.\nExperience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, and microservice deployment strategies.\nStrong debugging, problem-solving, and incident-handling skills in production environments.\nStrong system design and architecture skills, with the ability to make practical tradeoffs and influence technical direction.\nNice to haves:\nKnowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and telecom domain applications.\nExperience with event-driven architectures, messaging platforms, API gateways, or Kafka-based solutions.\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation.\nExperience working with large-scale cloud-native platforms and distributed environments.\nExperience with Ansible Playbooks and infrastructure orchestration.\nFamiliarity with frontend or full-stack web development technologies.\nExposure to observability tools, monitoring frameworks, application performance management, and network automation solutions.\nAt Ciena, we are committed to building and fostering an environment in which our employees feel respected, valued, and heard.
