The role supports learning and development in a technical, team-oriented environment.\nHow you will make an impact:\nExecute feature, integration, regression, and system-level validation activities for Waveserver software and hardware releases.\nDevelop, maintain, and execute test plans and test cases covering different service workflows.\nValidate northbound interfaces including CLI, REST, NETCONF, gNMI/gRPC, OpenConfig, SNMP, and WebSocket management interfaces.\nPerform verification of streaming telemetry, data collection, performance monitoring, and operational state reporting across supported interfaces.\nInvestigate software defects by analyzing logs, alarms, telemetry data, and system behavior, and collaborate with development teams to drive root-cause resolution.\nContribute to test automation initiatives using Python-based frameworks, Jupyter notebooks, and other software tools to improve test coverage and execution efficiency.\nCollaborate with Development, Systems Engineering, and Technical Support teams to support high-quality product releases and customer satisfaction.\nThe must haves:\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.\n Experience: up to 2 years of relevant experience (including internships, co-op terms, academic research, or projects).\nUnderstanding of testing concepts including functional, regression, integration, and system testing.\nBasic knowledge of networking fundamentals and network management concepts.\nExposure to AI-enabled engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies to support software development, automation, data analysis, and problem-solving activities.\nFamiliarity with Linux environments and command-line tools.\nExposure to Python or other programming languages.\nNice to haves:\nKnowledge of optical networking, DWDM, coherent optics, Layer 0/1 transport technologies, or telecommunications systems.\nExposure to network telemetry, performance monitoring, streaming data, or network analytics concepts.\nExperience with automation frameworks, CI/CD workflows, Git, Jenkins, Robot Framework, PyTest, or similar tools.\nFamiliarity with YANG models, OpenConfig, SNMP, or network management systems.\nExperience working with test equipment, lab environments, or hardware/software integration testing.\nUnderstanding of troubleshooting methodologies and defect lifecycle management.\nInterest in networking, telecommunications, cloud infrastructure, automation, and software quality engineering.\nPay Range:\nThe annual pay range for this position is $62,700 - $100,100\nPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
