The role provides opportunities to build technical expertise in embedded software development, networking technologies, and cross-functional collaboration while working on solutions used in service provider networks.\nHow you will make an impact:\nDevelop understanding and expertise in next-generation network solutions using optical transport and switching technologies such as OTN and Ethernet.\nDesign, develop, validate, and document advanced networking features and capabilities for embedded software applications.\nDiagnose, debug, and resolve embedded software issues by identifying root causes and implementing timely fixes.\nCollaborate with multi-functional teams to design, develop, and test next-generation modem technologies.\nThe must haves:\nEducation: Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering,\nC, C++ programming language experience\nGood knowledge of embedded systems, device drivers (e.g., GPIO, I2C drivers), Linux/RTOS operating systems, mutual exclusion, synchronization, interrupt handling, inter-process communication, memory management, etc.\nPositive work attitude, self-motivation, and ability to seek answers independently while learning new concepts\nStrong verbal and technical writing skills\nAbility to collaborate effectively in a team environment\nNice to haves:\nFamiliarity with datacom and telecom concepts such as DWDM, OTN, Ethernet, TCP/IP\nLow-level real-time software/firmware development including hardware bring-up and interfacing with third-party devices\nAbility to understand CPU hardware architectures, hardware functional specifications, and hardware timing diagrams\nLinux as a software development environment\nDesign and development tools such as Git, Eclipse, JIRA, Confluence, GDB, Yocto\nYANG modeling language and toolchains\nScripting experience with Python, Go, BASH\n\nPay Range:\nThe pay range for this position is $27.00 - $37.50\nPay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
