Strong interpersonal and communications skills.\n\nValues the sharing of information and continuous improvement in a cooperative atmosphere of constructive evaluation and learning.\n\nDuties and responsibilities\n\nRequired Competencies\n\n• Provide scientific guidance; ensuring that research concepts and methods are appropriate and meet the highest scientific standards and reflect up-to-date scientific methods and concepts.\n\n• Collaborate closely with theme coordinators/leaders, within CIFOR, to define and implement research activities in emerging interest areas.\n\n• Write and supervise publications and other scientific communications.\n\n• Lead/Supervise project capacity building initiatives.\n\n• Supervise students and staff and mentor junior project scientists.\n\n• Represent CIFOR, when appropriate, in national, regional, and global forums related to forest governance.\n\n• Develop/Maintain constructive partnerships with stakeholders.\n\n• Lead search for additional funding in relevant research areas.\n\n• Plan/Monitor research activities, including financing, as necessary.\n\n• Lead/Coordinate/Contribute to donor reporting.\n\n Requirements\n\nPhD in relevant discipline;\n\nExperience in collaborative natural resource management or social science research.
