Reporting to the Team Lead HW Lifecycle, this role will work within the NovAtel Hardware Engineering team managing hardware maintenance (sustaining) issues, conducting root cause analysis, developing solutions, performing hands-on testing, generating test reports, conducting peer reviews, and providing lessons learned for new designs. We are putting data to work to boost efficiency, productivity, quality, and safety across industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, public sector, and mobility applications.\nOur technologies are shaping the production and people-related ecosystems to become increasingly connected and autonomous, ensuring a scalable, sustainable future.\nResponsibilities\nAs a Hardware Lifecycle (Sustaining) Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for these activities:\nTechnical coordination of product lifecycle issues and resolution.\nDevelopment of mechanical solutions adhering to IATF 16949 processes.\nHands-on solution development, including hardware design, test plan creation, test execution, test reporting, documentation updates, and final implementation.\nCreate or modify data sets, including bills of materials and assembly drawings.\nCreate Engineering Change Orders and conduct Root Cause Analysis when required.\nEngage subject matter experts as needed and support Project Managers.\nProvide lessons learned to the development team and work with the repair team to understand customer returns.\nQualifications\nMust Have:\nBS in Mechanical Engineering.\n5+ years of relevant work experience.\nExpertise in injection molded plastics, machined components, sheet metal, and sealing strategies.\nStrong 3D modeling skills, preferably using Creo.\nExperience with DFMA and GD&T and familiarity with standards such as MIL-SPEC, IEC, and ISO.\nUnderstanding of and experience conducting Root Cause Analysis.\nAbility to work with hand tools and proficiency with PCs, operating systems, and software packages.\nStrong collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion skills.\nExperience working with multidisciplinary teams.\nNice To Have:\nKnowledge of GPS/GNSS technology and products.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes and quality requirements.\nMotivated by challenging work.\nKey Success Factors:\nConfidence and initiative as a self-starter.\nAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment and perform well under pressure.\nCustomer-focused mindset.\nAbility to define and analyze complex problems, collect data, and develop solutions.\nAdaptability to organizational needs and willingness to take on new roles.\nEffective communication and interaction with individuals from diverse backgrounds.\nStrong planning, organizational, and time management skills.\nNot sure if you meet all the qualifications for this role?
