To support our focus on delivering high quality products, we are looking for an enthusiastic internship student to add to our Systems Engineering Team. This role offers you the opportunity to work with a cross-functional team on upcoming product designs, as well as with the technical customer liaison for product improvements. You will gain a big-picture view of the complete life cycle of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receiver cards, from concept through design, to integration and verification, and finally manufacturing and field support. You will be deeply involved in significant aspects of the overall receiver design, primarily RF design and performance optimization.\nThe Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based onsite in Calgary, AB.\nResponsibilities\nUnder the guidance of senior design staff, the Systems Engineering Intern responsibilities will include:\nGain an understanding of the system through development of test/characterization plans\nTest set-up, test automation, manual testing and debugging, data collection, and data analysis\nDevelop analysis tools through scripting, graphing, and other means\nWrite test reports\nConduct design and test reviews with a cross-functional design/test team\nPresentation of test/analysis results and recommendations\nInterface with Manufacturing to optimize production yield\nAnalysis of characterization and sustaining data for fielded products\nParticipate early prototyping or proof of concept development to assist future products definition\nQualifications\nMust-Have:\nRegistered in the Engineering Internship/Co-op program and have completed your 2nd year of studies prior to the start of your work term\nEnrolled in Electrical, Geomatics, Systems, Software, or Computing Engineering at an accredited post secondary institution\nGraduate and Post-Graduate students will be given strong consideration\nAvailable for a minimum 12 month work term\nStrong academic credentials\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nStrong debugging and problem solving skills\nKey Success Factors:\nWillingness to learn and dig into aspects of complex systems\nAnalytical and troubleshooting skills\nAbility to manually debug hardware and/or software problems to identify root causes \nAble to work in a collaborative team environment\nConfident Self-starter\nAttention to details\nDetail oriented person able to follow complex instructions with a “first-time right” attitude\nMotivated by challenging work\nYou are comfortable working individually but know when to ask for help\nNice-to-Have:\nC++, Matlab/Simulink, Python, Batch, or other scripting languages\nMIcrosoft Power BI or other data analysis tools\nFamilarity with version control systems, such as Git, for managing code and collabration\nBasic understanding of RF/digital circuits, and GNSS principles\nHands on experience using common lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and data logging programs\nPrevious wireless communication and Radio Frequency (RF) experience would be an asset\nDigital Signal Processing (DSP) knowledge would be an asset\nIf you are a UofC student, Electrical Engineering 471: Introduction to Communication Systems and Networks is a useful course for you in this position\nNot sure if you meet all the qualifications for this role?
