Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!\nThe Junior Project Engineer will support the delivery of multidisciplinary electric utility projects across distribution, transmission, substations, protection and control, telecom, civil and structural disciplines. Working under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer, this role will combine technical understanding with project coordination to review and integrate engineering deliverables, manage interfaces, and support safe, high-quality project execution. The position is intended to develop an emerging engineer into a multidisciplinary Project Engineer capable of independently leading utility projects. This is a hybrid position, preferably based out of our Vancouver, BC office, with Edmonton or Calgary, AB as additional options.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nSupporting multidisciplinary technical coordination and integration of engineering deliverables across utility disciplines including distribution, transmission lines, substations, electrical, civil, structural, P&C, SCADA and telecom; \nReviewing drawings, calculations, specifications, reports and other technical deliverables to identify discipline interfaces, inconsistencies, gaps and constructability concerns, and coordinating resolution with the appropriate technical leads; \nSupporting the Senior Project Engineer in defining engineering scope, design criteria, deliverables, responsibilities and technical interfaces for utility projects; \nCoordinating internal and client design reviews, tracking comments and actions, and supporting confirmation that deliverables meet applicable client requirements, codes, standards and CIMA+ quality processes; \nSupporting project planning and execution through development and maintenance of engineering schedules, work plans, deliverable registers, action logs and decision tracking; \nSupporting project controls activities including engineering budgets, forecasting, progress tracking, change identification and change management; \nIdentifying technical and project delivery issues that may affect scope, schedule, budget, quality or safety, and working with the Senior Project Engineer and discipline leads to support timely resolution; \nParticipating in client and stakeholder meetings, preparing technical and project information, documenting decisions and progressively taking on responsibility for leading coordination meetings; \nSupporting proposal development including scope of work descriptions, engineering estimates, schedules, assumptions and execution planning; \nSupporting construction through site visits, field reviews, RFIs, technical queries and coordination between engineering, construction and client teams; \nCollaborating with utility clients, contractors, regulatory authorities and other project stakeholders to support effective communication and information exchange; \nContributing to project risk identification, lessons learned, continuous improvement and development of practical, safe and constructible engineering solutions; \nDeveloping broad knowledge of utility engineering and project delivery with the objective of progressing toward independent Project Engineer responsibilities. \n Three 3+ years of engineering experience in the electric utility industry; \nUniversity Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering; \nRegistered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the applicable provincial engineering association, or eligible to register; \nExperience working on electric utility projects involving one or more of distribution, transmission, substations, protection and control, telecom, civil or structural engineering; \nDemonstrated ability to understand and integrate multidisciplinary engineering information rather than working solely within a single design discipline; \nKnowledge of applicable Canadian codes, standards and utility engineering practices; \nValid Canadian Driver’s License and willingness to travel to project sites as required; \nStrong verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an asset; \nStrong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with initiative and attention to detail; \nAbility to organize work, manage priorities and coordinate multiple technical interfaces and deliverables in a dynamic project environment; \nAbility to review technical information, identify gaps or conflicts and work with senior engineers and discipline leads to drive issues toward resolution; \nAbility to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and build effective working relationships with clients and project stakeholders; \nExperience supporting engineering scope, schedule, budget, forecasting or change management activities is an asset; \nExperience with construction support, site activities, RFIs or field reviews is an asset; \nClient focused, adaptable and motivated to develop into an independent multidisciplinary Project Engineer. \nIntegrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence \nAt CIMA+, we value diversity of talent and perspective.
