Develops practical skills utilizing hand tools and equipment, including vertical mills, lathes, welders, and buffers, while learning fundamental machining, fabrication, and tooling techniques. Assists with preventative and corrective maintenance activities to support tooling reliability, production efficiency, and operational readiness. Collaborates with manufacturing engineers and tooling technicians to provide insight into tool design for manufacturability, functionality, and maintainability. Contributes to departmental projects and day-to-day production support while developing foundational knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, continuous improvement, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.\nResponsibilities\nAssist Tooling Technicians with the fabrication, assembly, modification, and repair of production tools, jigs, fixtures, and manufacturing support equipment.\nPerform basic machining, welding, grinding, polishing, and fabrication tasks under appropriate supervision while following established safety procedures.\nAssist with preventative and corrective maintenance activities, including inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and documentation of completed work.\nRead and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks.\nUtilize precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions, tolerances, and quality of fabricated or repaired components.\nSupport production technicians and operators by troubleshooting tooling-related issues and assisting with timely resolution of manufacturing concerns.\nParticipate in tooling design reviews and provide practical feedback regarding manufacturability, fabrication methods, functionality, and maintainability.\nLead or significantly contribute to one or two defined projects focused on tooling improvements, safety, quality, cost reduction, or operational efficiency.\nAssist with root cause investigations, corrective actions, continuous improvement initiatives, and development of tooling and maintenance documentation.\nPresent completed project work, accomplishments, and improvement recommendations to departmental leadership at the conclusion of the internship.\nAdditional Requirements: Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen & background check.Must be able to complete entire duration of internship.Qualifications\nRequired:\nCurrently enrolled in a technical or trade school pursuing a diploma, certificate, or associate degree in a relevant skilled trade or technical field.\nActively progressing through a technical education program, typically a two-year program, with a focus on machining, welding, manufacturing technology, industrial maintenance, tool and die, aerospace, or a related discipline.\nProficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines.\nStrong organizational and time management skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\nStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.\nOther Duties Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this position.
