With a strong focus on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence, the team drives impact across global operations and enables successful product outcomes.\nYour Impact\nThe Cisco Product Operations team is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to provide mechanical product engineering support for new and sustaining products. You'll be responsible for products cost and quality from New Product Introduction (NPI) to End of Life (EOL). As a Mechanical Product Engineer, you will provide new products and on-going engineering (including DFM) for a specific product or group of products from pre-concept commit through EOL. For new products, you will collaborate with design (hardware and mechanical), process, test and reliability engineering to tackle problems and ensure cost avoidance and quality at FCS. For sustaining products, you will focus on cost reduction and design related yield improvements.\nHigh Level Responsibilities:\nProvide new product introduction support for on-going engineering from pre-concept through EOL.\nWork collaboratively with stakeholders in development of processes and technology to support new product development.\nBOM structuring and BOM risk Management.\nCollaborate with design (hardware, mechanical, and electrical product engineering) team for Dfx issues and ensure that they are resolved prior to release of the product.\nDrive and participate in design and manufacturing FMEA.\nProvide leadership in driving the product quality issues in NPI and sustaining.\nValue engineering and cost avoidance (pre-production release) - Engage early with Component Engineering, Quality, GSM and Hardware engineering and influence on component selection, process efficiency, and design changes.\nAssessing CM and supply chain technical capability gaps.\nCrafting, analyzing, and releasing product documentation and relevant Change management activities.\nTechnical lifecycle management (defect reduction team participation, new component qualification, etc).\nLeadership and direction of complex issue resolution.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent plus 5-10 years related experience; Master’s preferred.\nStrong understanding of design concepts and engineering development practices.\nComprehensive knowledge of various CREA and CAD tools, manufacturing processes and tolerances, and trouble-shoot failing system down to mechanical part level / design related issue.\nProven ability to work in a team setting and multi-task.\nOutstanding written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working with contract manufacturers for complex electronic products.\nDeep understanding of sheet metal fabrication, thermal (fan and heatsinks) fabrication and PCBA assembly process and technology.\nExperience working on a switch/router product is a plus.\nWhy Cisco?\nAt Cisco, we’re revolutionizing how data and infrastructure connect and protect organizations in the AI era - and beyond.
