We value technical excellence and innovation, and every engineer is empowered to influence the product’s architecture and the future of infrastructure management.\nYour Impact\nAs a Senior Software Engineer on the Cisco Intersight team, you will design and deliver cloud-native software that supports Cisco’s AI Infrastructure strategy. You will apply deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms, and data-intensive backend services to build secure, scalable, and reliable solutions for cloud and on-premises environments.\nYou will independently lead features from technical design through production delivery while collaborating with product management, user experience, and other engineering teams. You will help shape architecture and technical direction, improve engineering practices, mentor other engineers, and drive innovations that advance the Intersight platform and create meaningful value for customers. You will:\nDesign, build, test, and maintain secure, scalable backend services for the Intersight cloud platform using clean, maintainable code and comprehensive unit and integration tests. \nIndependently lead medium-sized features from technical design through production, delivering APIs, distributed services, and platform integrations while documenting key architectural decisions and risks. \nDiagnose complex production issues, participate in incident response, and lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions. \nPartner with product management, user experience, and other engineering teams to deliver solutions that balance customer value, usability, performance, and operational impact. \nDesign and develop AI-enabled and agentic capabilities using technologies such as retrieval-augmented generation, large language models, and MCP-based integrations. \nReview code and technical designs for correctness, security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. \nCoordinate cross-team dependencies, estimates, milestones, risks, and delivery plans while contributing to the engineering roadmap. \nMentor peers and junior engineers through technical guidance, design discussions, code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing. \nContribute to threat modeling and incorporate security, privacy, and secure coding practices throughout the development lifecycle. \nImprove engineering processes, automation, testing, developer productivity, and system reliability. \nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelors degree + 7 years of related experience, or Masters + 4 years of related experience, or PhD + 1 year of related experience, or equivalent related work experience \nSignificant experience designing and developing production software using one or more languages such as Go, C/C++, Java, or Python. \nExperience designing, deploying, and operating cloud-native microservices and large-scale distributed systems on at least one major public-cloud platform. \nStrong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software architecture, and API design. \nDemonstrated experience independently leading technically complex software features from design through production, including addressing scalability, performance, and reliability. \nPreferred Qualifications:\nAWS Cloud experience preferred. \nExperience developing enterprise management platforms for compute or AI infrastructure. \nDeep expertise designing and scaling MongoDB-backed systems, including data modeling, indexing, query optimization, replication, sharding, performance analysis, and production troubleshooting. \nWhy Cisco?\nAt Cisco, we’re revolutionizing how data and infrastructure connect and protect organizations in the AI era - and beyond. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:\n.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;\n\n1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;\n\n1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and\n\nOnce performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.\n\nFor non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target.
