This is an on-site position supporting the modification and assembly of specialized communications equipment used by customers across the defense, intelligence, law enforcement, and homeland security communities.\nThe OEM Modification Technician will support daily production operations by disassembling, modifying, and preparing original equipment manufacturer (OEM) phones and phone housings for integration into our Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) assembly lines. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with precision tools, and the ability to perform detailed modifications accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\nCIS Secure specializes in custom secure communications solutions, including secure telephones and computers, encrypted tactical communications systems, secure tele- and video-conferencing systems, and specialized equipment designed for challenging operational environments.\nThis role provides an opportunity to contribute directly to the production of mission-critical communications technology while working alongside an experienced team of manufacturing and technical professionals.\nResponsibilities\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nPerform daily disassembly and modification of OEM phones and phone housings to support VoIP progressive assembly lines.\n\nUtilize a variety of hand and power tools, including handheld drills, routers, cutting tools, diagonal cutters, screwdrivers, and deburring tools.\n\nOperate custom fixtures and jigs to perform precise modifications to OEM components and housings.\n\nRead and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and detailed build instructions to ensure accurate assembly and modification.\n\nPerform mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly tasks in accordance with established production procedures and quality standards.\n\nMaintain a high level of accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail while supporting production schedules and throughput requirements.\n\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly or modification issues to minimize production delays.\n\nInspect completed work to verify compliance with technical specifications and workmanship standards.\n\nProperly maintain tools, equipment, and workstations to support safe and efficient production operations.\n\nFollow established safety procedures, equipment handling requirements, and manufacturing best practices.\n\nCollaborate with production team members, supervisors, and other departments to maintain workflow and meet production objectives.\n\nCommunicate production challenges, equipment issues, and potential process improvements to appropriate personnel.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nStrong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.\n\nKnowledge of mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, and electronics manufacturing processes.\n\nFamiliarity with mechatronics and the assembly or modification of electronic devices.\n\nAbility to read, interpret, and follow technical drawings, specifications, and detailed assembly instructions.\n\nStrong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform precise modifications and repetitive assembly tasks.\n\nAbility to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced production environment.\n\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nUnderstanding of equipment maintenance, workplace safety procedures, and proper material handling.\n\nBasic computer skills and the ability to follow documented production procedures.\n\nExcellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.\n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a production team.\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\n\n1-2 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, electronics manufacturing, or a related production environment.\n\nHands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision assembly equipment.\n\nExperience working with technical drawings, manufacturing specifications, and documented build procedures.\n\nOPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:\nThis position follows a standard production schedule, with occasional flexibility required based on manufacturing priorities and business needs.\n\nThis is an on-site position at CIS Secure's Ashburn, Virginia facility.\n\nMust be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining quality, accuracy, and production efficiency.\n\nTRAVEL:\nNo regular travel anticipated.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nThis job operates in a production and manufacturing environment.
