You’ll help modernise an established Java web platform. You’ll work closely with frontend developers, QA, a Product Owner and a Tech Lead, using agile practices.\nWhat you’ll do\n- Design, build and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs in Java\n- Write clean, testable code with good unit and integration test coverage using JUnit\n- Model data and write efficient SQL against Oracle DB, and tune queries, indexes and transactions\n- Understand, maintain and refactor legacy modules, including XSLT-rendered pages, and help plan their migration\n- Join refinement sessions: break features down into technical tasks, estimate them and raise risks early\n- Review pull requests and help keep coding standards and technical documentation in good shape\n- Work with DevOps and QA on build pipelines, deployments and production support\n- Help investigate and fix incidents across environments\nWhat you need (must-have)\n- Around 5 years of professional experience in backend development with Java (Java 11+, ideally 17/21)\n- Solid automated testing skills with JUnit, plus mocking frameworks such as Mockito\n- Hands-on experience with Maven: multi-module projects, dependency management and build lifecycle\n- Experience building Java web applications: REST APIs, JSON/XML handling, HTTP and request/response lifecycle\n- Good knowledge of a Java application framework (Spring Boot, Jakarta EE or similar) and persistence with JPA/Hibernate\n- A solid grasp of object-oriented design, SOLID principles and common design patterns\n- Experience with Git, branching strategies and pull request workflows\n- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps)\n- Experience working in agile teams (Scrum or Kanban)\n- Good English communication skills for working with international stakeholders\nNice to have\n- Quarkus, or other cloud-native Java frameworks\n- Apache Kafka: producers, consumers, topics and event-driven design\nAWS S3, and AWS services in general\n- Maintaining or migrating legacy pages built with XSLT (and XML/XPath)\n- Database migration tools such as Flyway or Liquibase\n- API documentation with OpenAPI/Swagger\n- Containerisation with Docker;
