The Applications Development Intermediate Programmer Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for participating in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to the full lifecycle of applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, code, and debug complex application systems, with a strong ability to triage and resolve technical issues.
- Apply deep knowledge of programming languages and design specifications to build robust, scalable solutions.
- Conduct thorough peer code reviews to ensure all development adheres to Citi's quality and security standards.
- Analyze applications to identify and remediate vulnerabilities and security issues, and lead testing and debugging efforts.
- Utilize knowledge of modern applications development procedures and concepts to identify and define necessary system enhancements.
- Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend optimal programming solutions.
- Serve as an advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts, fostering technical growth within the team.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and other team members on technical matters.
- Operate with a limited level of direct supervision, exercising independence of judgment and autonomy.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry in an Applications Development role.
- Core Technical Proficiency:
- Strong proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework.
- Hands-on experience with Microservices architecture and development.
- Expertise in MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
- AI in Development:
- Ability to leverage AI tools for code generation and development.
- Experience or familiarity with prompt engineering to maximize the effectiveness of AI development assistants.
- Core Competencies:
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
- Strong demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
