This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to grow technical skills, deliver meaningful work, and build a strong foundation within a leading financial institution.\nResponsibilities\nBuild and maintain Python applications, contributing to the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment and ongoing support.\nDevelop and maintain REST APIs and backend services that meet performance, reliability, and maintainability standards.\nWrite clean, well-structured, and thoroughly documented code that is easy to maintain and extend by the wider team.\nDesign and execute automated tests to support quality assurance processes and ensure software behaves as expected.\nSupport database development activities, including writing and optimizing SQL queries and assisting with data integration tasks.\nParticipate in code reviews, applying feedback from senior engineers to continuously improve code quality and adopt best practices.\nCollaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and developers within Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to deliver solutions on time.\nRequired Qualifications & Skills\n2+ years of experience in software development, with practical exposure to building and maintaining applications.\nProficiency in Python, including a solid grasp of programming fundamentals and object-oriented design principles.\nAbility to use PySpark to process and transform large-scale datasets within distributed computing environments.\nAbility to build and consume REST APIs and web services in a backend development context.\nWorking knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including the ability to write and troubleshoot queries.\nFamiliarity with Git or equivalent version control systems for managing and collaborating on codebases.\nStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, with the capacity to diagnose and resolve application issues effectively.\nClear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work productively within a team environment.\nBeneficial Skills & Qualifications\nHands-on experience developing Python applications through internships, academic projects, or personal initiatives.\nExperience working with PySpark on big data pipelines, including familiarity with the Spark ecosystem and distributed data processing concepts.\nFamiliarity with Linux or Unix environments for application development or deployment tasks.\nExposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including a foundational understanding of cloud-based services.\nKnowledge of software testing frameworks such as PyTest, with an understanding of unit testing principles.\nInterest in or early exposure to AI, machine learning, or automation technologies.\nWhat We Offer\nAt Citi, you will be part of a global team where your contributions have real impact.
