In this senior leadership position, you will direct a geographically distributed engineering team building highly scalable, cloud-native platforms that underpin Citi's global technology and security objectives. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of engineering excellence, security transformation, and large-scale platform delivery.\nResponsibilities\nLead the architecture, engineering strategy, and end-to-end delivery of secure, scalable, cloud-native platforms supporting Citi's identity and security initiatives.\nDirect a geographically distributed software engineering organisation, setting clear direction and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.\nDefine technology roadmaps, architecture standards, and engineering governance frameworks that ensure long-term platform sustainability and strategic alignment.\nEstablish and champion engineering best practices across software development, testing, automation, deployment, observability, and operational support.\nPartner with Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Information Security, and Infrastructure stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into scalable technical solutions.\nCoach and develop engineers and technical leaders, building organisational capability and strengthening succession across the team.\nIdentify and manage technology, delivery, and operational risks, ensuring solutions are designed and operated in line with enterprise security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.\nRequired Qualifications & Skills\nSignificant experience leading enterprise software engineering organisations delivering large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms, with deep hands-on expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, Spring Security, and Spring Data.\nDemonstrated ability to architect and deliver solutions using microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems design, with practical experience on Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.\nHands-on experience designing secure platforms using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, mutual TLS (mTLS), encryption, and application security best practices.\nTrack record of managing geographically distributed engineering teams, driving high performance, and developing technical talent at scale across complex, matrixed organisations.\nExperience building and operating data pipelines and event streaming solutions using Apache Kafka, with proficiency across REST and SOAP API development and OpenAPI/Swagger specification.\nProficiency with relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB, combined with strong CI/CD, Git, and DevOps delivery practices.\nExceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly across technical and non-technical audiences at senior levels.\nBeneficial Skills & Qualifications\nExperience delivering identity, authentication, access management, or cybersecurity platforms within Financial Services, Banking, or other highly regulated industries.\nFamiliarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability tooling such as Grafana and Prometheus, and operational resiliency practices for large-scale production environments.\nExperience leading cloud transformation and application modernisation programmes at enterprise scale.\nExposure to Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), test automation frameworks, and front-end technologies including ReactJS and Python scripting.\nBackground supporting enterprise security and regulatory compliance programmes within complex, global organisations.\nWhat We Offer\nAt Citi, you will work on platforms that matter - systems that protect and power one of the world's leading financial institutions.
