footprint.\nResponsibilities\nLead the hands-on design and implementation of high-throughput, low-latency Python backend services and SQL pipelines to ingest and process massive volumes of financial market data.\nTranslate complex regulatory mandates and market surveillance policies into robust, deterministic control algorithms and automated surveillance engines.\nPartner directly with trading desks, risk managers, and compliance stakeholders to model end-to-end trade lifecycles, order workflows, and multi-asset risk analytics.\nConduct application profiling, database tuning, and SQL query optimization to eliminate bottlenecks, minimize latency, and maximize throughput.\nImplement Generative AI-assisted solutions and modern automation patterns to eliminate manual operational activities and streamline control testing workflows.\nAct as the technical authority for the engineering team, guiding architectural decisions, system design reviews, and modern CI/CD practices using GitHub and Jira.\nChampion engineering best practices, conduct rigorous peer code reviews, enforce testing standards, and mentor engineers across the team.\nEnsure technical deliverables strictly adhere to Citi engineering policies, enterprise security standards, and global regulatory compliance requirements.\nRequired Qualifications & Skills\n10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep hands-on expertise building backend applications and data-intensive pipelines in Python.\nAdvanced proficiency in SQL,relational database design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and database performance profiling.\nStrong domain knowledge in Investment Banking and Capital Markets, including comprehensive understanding of trade and transaction lifecycles, order management, execution workflows, and market risk analytics.\nDemonstrated technical leadership capabilities, including conducting architectural reviews, mentoring engineers, and setting engineering standards.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the skill to resolve complex, ambiguous technical issues and translate business requirements into robust technical specifications.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills, with the ability to partner effectively with both technical teams and non-technical business leaders.\nBeneficial Skills & Qualifications\nPrior experience building regulatory reporting or market surveillance platforms (e.g., MiFID II, CAT, Dodd-Frank, MAR, Best Execution).\nHands-on experience with containerization and container orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).\nExposure to distributed computing or data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, PySpark, Kafka, Solace, MQ).\nExperience applying Generative AI APIs, prompt engineering, or LLM-driven tooling to automate workflows and extract structured insights from unstructured datasets.\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree/University degree
