About the Team
Prime Brokerage Technology delivers the solutions that underpin the operations of our clients and traders, forming the technological backbone of our Prime Finance business. This is an area of significant opportunity, identified as a major growth priority for Citi with technology serving as the key to unlocking that potential.
Job Background
Prime Finance operates in a highly competitive marketplace, delivering Prime Brokerage services to institutional clients such as hedge funds, backed by robust financing and stock borrow capabilities.
Prime Brokerage Technology provides the platforms and solutions that support our clients and traders. Our clients depend on us to deliver consistently high levels of service, ensuring transactions, payments, and reporting are processed accurately and without failure, every single day.
We are partway through a transformation journey, replacing legacy components with test-driven, cloud-native microservices designed for stability, scalability, and release agility. In this role, you will help drive that engineering transformation across both the software and the teams that build it.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and own cash and fixed-income data processing components (Java/Kotlin) within the Prime Brokerage Technology platform
- Champion developer-led automated testing as a core engineering practice
- Work within an Agile team with a strong focus on Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)
- Actively participate in design, planning, and estimation discussions
- Partner with multiple management teams to ensure functions are well integrated to meet shared goals, and identify system enhancements needed to support new products and process improvements
- Resolve high-impact problems through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system architecture, and industry standards
- Provide subject-matter expertise and advanced applications programming knowledge, ensuring designs align with the overall architecture blueprint
- Apply advanced knowledge of system flow to define standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
- Build a comprehensive understanding of how architecture, infrastructure, and other business functions integrate to achieve broader business goals
- Deliver in-depth, interpretive analysis to define issues clearly and develop innovative solutions
- Provide technical leadership, acting as an advisor and coach to mid-level developers and analysts
Knowledge & Experience
- 6-10 years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role
- Proven background delivering software using an iterative Agile approach
- Track record of quality-led engineering, including developer-led automated testing, CI/CD, microservices, containerized deployment, and cloud engineering
- Demonstrated ability to own and drive successful delivery to business stakeholders
- Comfortable engaging directly with product owners to understand requirements and explore solutions
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Prior experience or knowledge of Prime Brokerage is desirable but not essential
- Experience operating in a collaborative leadership capacity, acting as "first among peers"
Required Skills

- Practical experience with Agile and DevOps practices - including continuous integration, test automation, frequent releases, and containerization
- Hands-on JVM development experience using Kotlin, Java, or Scala
- Solid understanding of Event-based architectures and HTTP/REST-based architectures
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL
- Familiarity with tools such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a strong plus
Qualifications
- Degree in a technical or quantitative discipline preferred (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field)

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:
$113,840.00 - $170,760.00In addition to salary, Citi’s offerings may also include, for eligible employees, discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
