Commercial Summer Internship Program

The Commercial Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a look at Citizens Bank’s culture and exposure into one of the many commercial banking business lines through project-based assignments, learning curriculum, networking, volunteer opportunities and formal mentorship. Responsibilities will vary based on the group you’re assigned to and will leverage your unique skills and abilities. At the conclusion of the program, high-performing interns will receive early consideration for full-time opportunities within the line of business in which they completed their summer internship.

Opportunities Within Commercial Banking, there are three opportunities in New York: Mid Corp PM - Healthcare, Middle Market PM and Treasury & Wholesale Payments

  • Mid Corp PM-Healthcare: You will work alongside Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, and Relationship Managers to support loan underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and business development efforts for Healthcare commercial banking clients. Responsibilities include conducting financial and credit analysis, preparing financial models and credit approval materials, monitoring client reporting and covenant compliance, performing industry and market research, and participating in client meetings, team discussions, and special projects to gain broad exposure to commercial banking and relationship management.

  • Middle Market PM: You will work as part of a commercial client coverage team, partnering with Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, and Relationship Managers to support loan underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and business development efforts. You will gain hands-on experience in financial and credit analysis, financial modeling, market and industry research, and the preparation of credit approval materials, client presentations, and transaction documentation. The role also provides exposure to client interactions, deal screenings, credit approval meetings, and broader commercial banking activities, offering a comprehensive view of relationship and portfolio management.

  • Treasury & Wholesale Payments: You will support high-visibility projects and daily operations within Treasury Solutions while conducting research, analytics, and project management for strategic initiatives. You'll collaborate with leaders and teams across the business to gain a comprehensive understanding of Treasury Solutions and ultimately present your recommendations and insights to senior executives.

Qualifications:

  • Current students enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor’s program, graduating between Winter 2027 - Spring 2028 OR current students enrolled in a graduate program, graduating between Winter 2027 - Spring 2028

  • Minimum GPA of 3.2; Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5.

    • Please include your cumulative GPA on your resume.

  • Relevant work experience, leadership experience or coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors will be considered.

  • Strong analytical skills and software skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency is required.

  • Candidates must currently be a U.S. Resident to be eligible for this program.

    • Please note that U.S. Immigration sponsorship or work visa is not available for intern / full time Analyst positions and candidates must have permanent authorizationto work in the U.S
