You will help deliver a modern, web-based Data Repository for managing and sharing sensor and monitoring data collected across the HS2 programme. This is an exciting opportunity for a software developer, or an engineer with advanced software development skills, to contribute to a high-profile infrastructure project with long-term data legacy ambitions.\n\nResponsibilities \n\nYou will design, develop and document a web-based Data Repository, including back-end services, APIs and front-end applications for uploading and downloading monitoring data. You will work with technologies including Python and/or JavaScript, FastAPI, SQL and time-series databases, Docker and GitHub. Working closely with the research team and HS2 stakeholders, you will translate data requirements into effective technical solutions, define common data structures, and ensure the system is reliable, secure and well documented while delivering agreed project milestones.\n\nPerson Specification \n\nYou will design, develop and document a web-based Data Repository, including back-end services, APIs and front-end applications for uploading and downloading monitoring data. You will work with technologies including Python and/or JavaScript, FastAPI, SQL and time-series databases, Docker and GitHub. Working closely with the research team and HS2 stakeholders, you will translate data requirements into effective technical solutions, define common data structures, and ensure the system is reliable, secure and well documented while delivering agreed project milestones.\n\nAdditional Information\n\nThis role is permanent subject to fixed term funding for 12 months. This post is offered on a permanent contract, reflecting the University’s commitment to providing greater stability for research staff.
